UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a full-time internship with the Registration unit at UNHCR Irbid.

Organizational context
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is an international organization dedicated to protect the rights of the refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people.
The Syria crisis has generated over 6.6 million internally displaced persons, and more than 5.6 million refugees in the surrounding countries and beyond. Over 660,000 Syrian refugees are currently registered with UNHCR in Jordan.
UNHCR works closely with the Government of Jordan and numerous other national and international partners in providing protection and assistance to refugees and asylum seekers, as well as to Jordanian communities hosting a high number of refugees.

The UNHCR Irbid Field Office covers the urban refugees living in Irbid, Jarash and Ajlun governorates. The Office oversees more than 140,000 refugees registered in the area covered by the field Office including the urban and camp (Garden Camp).
The Registration functions are situated in high pace working environment, entailing highly volume of daily interactions with refugees that require competencies of strong communication and interpersonal skills. It further requires real time data entry and data update in UNHCR data base which requires computer literacy of all Microsoft office tools, with strong knowledge of excel required. Unpredictability of epidemiological situation requires adaptability and change capability competencies, and ability to manage stress.
The position
The Registration Intern is a member of the registration team and is supervised by a more senior colleague who normally reports directly to the Registration Officer. The incumbent is responsible for supporting activities related to registration, which may also include functions related to reception, and filing. S/he responds to queries from asylum seekers and refugees regarding UNHCR's registration procedures and their rights and entitlements. The Registration Assistant liaises with protection staff and partners to ensure timely identification and referral of persons of concern for protection follow up and may provide interpretation and/or translation services in cases for which s/he has the required language competencies.
The intern will familiarize with the registration activities of UNHCR which are the entry point to offer protection and assistance to the refugees. S/He will also gain knowledge on the UNHCR corporate tools such as ProGres V.4, RAIS and E-SAFE.
Duties and responsibilities
-Respond to the basic queries from asylum seekers and refugees at the main gate and provide the needed counselling about UNHCR procedures and services.
-Identify persons with specific needs and ensure timely referral to the respective unit as required.
-Assisting with the digitalization process for refugee’s old asylum seeker certificates and uploading the scanned documents on the e-safe according to the established structure.
-Assisting the daily registration processing at the reception level and distribute the renewed UNHCR documents.
-Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum qualifications required
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO; and
• Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR.

Conditions
It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 8.00 am to 3:45 pm Sunday to Thursday (37 hours per week). The successful candidate will be assigned to support the team in Irbid
Allowance: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses.
