Job-ID: V000062037 Location: Bonn Assignment period: 07/14/2025 - 01/13/2026 Field: Trainees Type of employment: full-time Application deadline: 06/02/2025The BioInnovation Africa (BIA) project supports African-European business partnerships for biodiversity-based value chains that are based on high ethical, social, and environmental standards, including equitable benefit-sharing and the sustainable use of Africa’s genetic resources. For example, the project strengthens capacities in providing partner countries with regards to the valorisation of biodiversity, business development and ABS negotiation skills. The project also offers general advice on ABS contracts, supports the roll-out of national guidelines for benefit sharing, and facilitates knowledge exchange formats and sector dialogues among others. The overall objective of the BIA project is to promote social-ecological change and reconcile environmental and socio-economic sustainability in Cameroon, Namibia, South Africa, and Madagascar.
As an intern for BioInnovation Africa, you will gain insights into the implementation of a globally operating project. Your main tasks will include:
Disseminating a capacity development package (e. g., support the application of training materials, support the establishment of a network of trainers, and the integration into the digital infrastructure of partner institutions) Project communication and public relations (e. g., drafting articles to report on project activities and events, website maintenance, social media) Contributing to project monitoring, documentation, reporting and evaluation including the coordination of data collection and provision for the conduct of a project evaluation Support to the collaboration with private sector partners (e. g., compilation and documentation of lessons learned and coordination of annual partnership exchanges and reporting) Organising internal meetings, webinars and events for project partnersGIZ is a signatory of the Diversity Charter.
