Work LocationThe Hague, The Netherlands Expected durationDuration: 3 to 6 months Desired start date: as soon as possible Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe International Court of Justice is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. It is composed of 15 judges, elected by the General Assembly and the Security Council. The Court has a twofold role: first, to settle, in accordance with international law, legal disputes submitted to it by States; and, second, to give advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by duly authorized United Nations organs and specialized agencies. The Court is the only principal organ of the United Nations not serviced by the Secretariat. The Court has its own administration, the Registry, which provides judicial support to the Court and acts as a permanent administrative organ. The Registry is headed by a Registrar, elected by the Court. Under the close supervision of an ICT Division Staff Member, the incumbent contributes to all/any ICT tasks and related activities as below: 1) Assisting with troubleshooting computer hardware and software. 2) Setting up computer laptops and mobile devices and contribute to administer endpoints in Microsoft Intune. 3) Setting up teleconference & video conference meetings (e.g. MS Teams, Cisco Webex, Zoom). 4) Ad hoc end-user support via email, MS Teams, Skype for Business, Ticketing system, phone or in-person. 5) Ensuring requests are properly opened, resolved in a timely manner, documented and closed in the ticketing system. 6) Provide assistance in the improving of the ICT Division's Service Management (ITIL based) resources and capabilities by a) assisting in the definition of processes; and b) assisting in drafting guidelines; 7) Provide assistance in implementing IT governance recommendations; 8) Perform other tasks as required. Qualifications/special skillsThe candidate must have completed minimum a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Information technology or any related field. Recent completion or enrolment in a Master’s program in the same field will be considered as an advantage. No professional work experience is required. The candidate must have: a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter; a demonstrated ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, and a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of different opinions and views. LanguagesEnglish and French are the official and working languages of the International Court of Justice. A good command of either English or French and a sound working knowledge of the other language is required. Knowledge of Dutch is desirable; knowledge of other official languages of the United Nations would be an asset. Additional InformationNot available.
