Work LocationOffice based - Hybrid Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis Internship is under the supervision of Industry and Economy Division Chemicals branch, KRU Unit and the Secretariat of the Global Framework on Chemicals in Geneva Switzerland. Under the supervision, guidance and mentoring of the respective Programme Management Officers, the Intern(s) will be engaged to support the work of one or two of the following topics (based on the Unit needs and interest of the possible candidate): 1-Topic 1- Environmentally Persistent Pharmaceutical Pollutants (EPPPs) and Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs), and will carry out the following duties: § Support the development of technical assistance and capacity-building projects in relation to pharmaceuticals in the environment and unused medicines, including through desk research, information collection and compilation including on national/regional contexts, liaison with internal and external partners. § Assist in the roll out of awareness raising and information sharing activities, including the design and delivery of information sharing events/workshops and the drafting of communication materials, web content etc. § Assist in the delivery of activities related to Environmentally Persistent Pharmaceutical Pollutants (EPPPs) and Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) through support to desk research, data and information collection and compilation, drafting of various written outputs such as background documents and presentations. § Assist with other related tasks as appropriate. 2-Topic 2 – Stockholm Convention National Implementation Plans, and will carry out the following duties: § Assist in the delivery of activities under the Global component of the GEF Stockholm Convention National Implementation Plans update projects. § Assist in data and information collection and compilation for the development of chemicals and waste related projects proposals and reports. § Assist in organizing face to face and online meetings. § Assist in the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, presentations, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications and other communications, etc.; and § Assist with other related tasks as appropriate. 3- Topic 3 - Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), and will carry out the following duties: § Assist in activities related to global monitoring of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and mercury. § Support project development including conducting desk research, data collection and information completion and liaising with stakeholders. § Assist in organizing online and in-person meetings and expert consultations. § Assist in the preparation of various written outputs such as background papers, concept notes, meeting reports among others. § Assist in development of awareness raising materials and communication products. § Assist with other related tasks as appropriate. 4- Topic 4 – Mercury, and will carry out the following duties: § Support the ongoing projects on mercury management in the context of the Minamata Convention on Mercury. § Support the research and design of the cross-cutting projects that address mercury pollution in the context of the biodiversity loss and climate change. § Support the data visualization and communication efforts on the related subject. § Support the work of the Secretariat of the Global Mercury Partnership. 5-Topic 5 – Lead (Pb) exposure and pollution, and will carry out the following duties: § Support the ongoing activities and projects on lead (Pb) management. § Support project development including conducting desk research, data collection and information completion and liaising with stakeholders. § Assist in organizing online and in-person meetings and expert consultations. § Assist in the preparation of various written outputs such as background papers, concept notes, meeting reports among others. § Assist in development of awareness raising materials and communication products. 6-Topic 6 – Pesticides, including highly hazardous pesticides (HHPs), management, and will carry out the following duties: § Support the ongoing activities related to the pesticides, including highly hazardous pesticides (HHPs), management. § Support project development including conducting desk research, data collection and information completion and liaising with stakeholders. § Assist in organizing online and in-person meetings and expert consultations. § Assist in the preparation of various written outputs such as background papers, concept notes, meeting reports among others. § Assist in development of awareness raising materials and communication products. 7-Topic 7 – Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), including global governance, policy processes and country level activities, and will carry out the following duties: § Support the ongoing policy processes and activities related to antimicrobial resistance (AMR). § Support project development including conducting desk research, data collection and information completion and liaising with stakeholders. § Assist in the preparation of various written outputs such as background papers, concept notes, meeting reports among others. § Support the work carried out with countries together with Regional Offices and Quadripartite teams. § Assist in organizing online and in-person meetings and expert consultations. § Assist in development of awareness raising materials, presentations and communication products. 8-Topic 8 – Green and sustainable chemistry integration into sectors, and will carry out the following duties: § Support the ongoing activities related to the green and sustainable chemistry integration into sectors. § Support project development including conducting desk research, data collection and information completion and liaising with stakeholders. § Assist in the preparation of various written outputs such as background papers, concept notes, meeting reports among others. § Assist in development of awareness raising materials and communication products. 9-Topic 9: Global Framework on Chemicals Secretariat and Fund, and will carry out the following duties: § Preparation of meeting agendas, background notes, presentations or reports for meetings such as those of the Bureau or the Executive Board § Assist in preparing various written outputs, such as communication material, draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc.; § Assist in the management of stakeholder relations and stakeholder databases; § Support the operations of the Fund such as resource mobilization, communication, webinars and outreach activities, project screening and data collection; § Assist with other related tasks as appropriate. 1.5.
