Work LocationBogota Expected duration6 Months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis Internship is for International candidates. The Intern will be based in Bogota. The intern will support the regional office in Bogotá with the verification of the implementation of the point 1 and point 3.2 of the peace agreement—specifically the departments of Boyacá, Cundinamarca, Tolima, Huila, and the district of Bogotá. Tasks will include: - Compiling and organizing data of initiatives related to the comprehensive rural reform and the reintegration process. - Preparing graphs, maps, charts and other visual representations of the data (e.g. dashboard) to communicate trends and key findings at the macro regional level. – Support the organization of meetings with comprehensive rural reform and reintegration stakeholders, including with beneficiaries, local leaders, implementing agencies, public entities and others to discuss progress of specific projects and initiatives. - Monitoring local news and social media accounts for information on progress, completion and/or challenges with implementation the comprehensive rural reform and the reintegration process. - Preparing periodic updates on findings regarding the comprehensive rural reform and the reintegration process. Within the UNVMC’s mandate to verify comprehensive rural reform, the Mission verifies the implementation of Development Plans with a Territorial Focus (Programas de Desarrollo con Enfoque Territorial, or PDET for its initialism in Spanish), access to land in it´s different modalities, multipurpose cadastre, and peasants reserve zones. The objective of the comprehensive rural reform is to reduce inequalities in rural areas and promote access to land. The reintegration process within Colombia's Peace Agreement framework refers to a series of actions, programs, and policies designed to facilitate the transition of former FARC-EP combatants into civilian, social, economic, and political life. This process aims to ensure dignified living conditions, security, educational and vocational training, and the creation of productive opportunities that allow their full integration into Colombian society. Additionally, it seeks to promote national reconciliation, prevent the recurrence of violence, and strengthen efforts toward building stable and lasting peace through collaborative commitments involving the state, host communities, and former members of the armed group. The intern will support the monitoring and verification process at the regional level of the Bogotá Regional Office and work closely with the sub-Regional Office as well as the two Local Offices within the area of operations to advance the implementation of point 1 and point 3.2 of the peace agreement. The intern may be asked to perform other tasks as required on these two substantive areas. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). Interested candidates must be pursuing their degree in Social Sciences, Political Science, Development, International Relations, law or a related field to this Internship Job Opening. However, your training, education, advanced course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your Internship. Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams) is required. Knowledge of statistical software and data visualization software (Power BI) is desirable. Ability to gather/analyze information, conduct research and interact with a wide range of actors, which may include civil society, and academia is required. Must have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. Must have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
