Work LocationIn-Person, Rabat, Morocco Expected duration2 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator (RCO) in Morocco supports the United Nations Country Team (UNCT)—comprising 21 agencies—in the development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, as well as in advancing the 2030 Agenda. The RCO delivers five core functions: strategic planning, development economics, partnerships and development finance, data and results management, and communication and advocacy. It also facilitates inclusive coordination mechanisms to ensure full participation of all UNCT members in consultations and decision-making processes, supported by regular communication and information sharing. The RCO team in Rabat includes a Head of Office, who serves as the principal advisor to the Resident Coordinator and oversees daily operations, staff supervision, and overall integration of workstreams. The Development Economist provides policy and macroeconomic analysis, while the Partnerships and Development Finance Officer manages strategic engagement with government, donors, civil society, and the private sector. The Data and Results Monitoring Officer leads efforts on data systems, SDG monitoring, and collaboration with national statistics institutions. Communication functions are supported by the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), which manages internal and external communications. In this context, the intern will be supervised by the Head of Office and will provide direct support to the RCO team and UNIC, including assistance to the Resident Coordinator. Responsibilities The intern will support the visibility and communication efforts of the UN Country Team in Morocco. The duties include, but are not limited to: 1. Communication and Content Creation · Contribution to the development of communication content for the RCO platforms: website, social media, newsletters, infographics, brochures, and other outreach materials. · Drafting of communication notes, short briefs, talking points and key messages. · Support in promoting inter-agency initiatives and joint UN activities through multimedia formats and storytelling. · Participation in the conceptualization and preparation of campaigns or public communication initiatives aligned with UN priorities in Morocco. 2. Drafting and Documentation Support · Assistance in the drafting of analytical notes, summaries, and policy briefs for partners and institutional counterparts. · Support in the preparation of minutes, reports, and action points related to inter-agency meetings and strategic dialogues. · Compilation of communication inputs for internal and external reporting. 3. Research and Thematic Monitoring · Conducting short documentary research on priority themes of the UN in Morocco (e.g. Agenda 2030, human rights, climate change, social protection, etc.). · Contributing to the monitoring of national developments relevant to UN advocacy or programming. · Assisting in benchmarking exercises or desk reviews to feed into strategic planning or communication work. 4. Other tasks as assigned · Participation in team meetings, brainstorming sessions and field visits when applicable. · Support to logistical and organizational aspects of UN public events or campaigns. · Support the preparation of activities planned in Rabat for United Nations Day 2025 (24 October), in celebration of the Organization’s 80th anniversary. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.
