Purpose of Job
Under the supervision of bankers in the Data, Analytics and Strategy team in Banking Portfolio.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
The intern will support the transaction-related process in:
• Financial analysis of companies and projects
• Analysis and evaluation of potential credit risks related to the proposed or existing projects
Data gathering, research, analysis and provision of background information on companies, industries and macroeconomic environment
• Administrative and analytical support in specific areas of project monitoring, particularly related to covenants, PD scoring reviews and financial ratio analysis
• Reviewing and interpreting financial statements of clients and other counterparties
• Working with large data sets, database generated reports and analyses
• Participation in internal and external meetings where appropriate
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications
• Proven analytical skills demonstrated by practical examples
• Strong numerical literacy
• Ability to conduct basic financial analysis of companies (understand and analyse the balance sheet, income statement of financial companies etc.)
• Excellent knowledge of particularly Excel and other MS office applications including database software
• Very good written (report writing, correspondence) and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to speak additional languages, particularly from the countries where the Bank operates, will be considered a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in management, finance, economics and engineering. The candidate may be currently working towards a Master’s degree
• Candidates must be a national of one of our member countries, have a good knowledge of both spoken and written English.
• Prior work experience will be valued
• Quantitative/numerical skills are critical with the ability to interpret financial information and accounting rules
• Credit analysis skills, with the ability to interpret accounts, understanding local and international accounting principles
• Ability to read, understand and interpret legal documentation related to financial transactions will be required.
• Computer literacy, conversant with Microsoft Office and spreadsheet packages including financial analysis and modelling modules.
