At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
Introduction
Are you an electrical, automation or industrial computing technical engineer? Join us in designing, operating, and maintaining RF power control systems with the CERN RF Servos & Controls Section.
You will join the Acceleration Systems (SY) Department within the Radio Frequency (RF) Group, where you'll work for the Servo and Control Interfaces (CS) Section.
The SY Department is responsible for the technical systems used in the CERN accelerators. The SY teams design, build and operate equipment systems in all CERN accelerators, and are engaged in ambitious forward-looking R&D programmes.
The RF Group designs, builds or procures, operates, consolidates and maintains the RF cavities, RF power amplifiers, Low Level RF and RF controls for all CERN's current and future beam accelerators.
The Servos & Controls Section (CS) is a cross-disciplinary team which provides expertise in digital control of the RF systems, including process control with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), real-time control using VMEbus, MicroTCA and PC front-end computers and embedded microcontrollers, and application software running on operator consoles.
