Through HI projects, various aspects of inclusive humanitarian action (IHA) have been explored including on how to collect quality data on disability, inclusive communication and exposure to various frameworks such as the IASC guidelines on inclusion of persons with disabilities in humanitarian action and the CRPD. The interest of humanitarian/ mainstream actors about disability inclusion has been raised and continues to gain momentum. These interventions are also designed to produce some lessons learned and good practices for replication in future, and to influence more actors towards being more inclusive in their response.
Senior Tecnical Officer is under direct line management of Somaliland & Somalia Country Manager and works closely with the Project Manager, Project Officers and Senior MEAL officer for supporting quality implementation of project based on needs, linked to the global IHA projects funded by German Federal office (GFFO) and ECHO.
The Senior Tecnical Officer will have 5 main responsabilities:
Somalia faces high security risks due to ongoing conflict, terrorism, and inter-clan violence. Many regions are underdeveloped and lack essential infrastructure, with limited access to healthcare and emergency services. Travel outside major cities like Mogadishu, Hargeisa, or Garowe is highly restricted and requires armed escorts. Living conditions can be challenging, particularly in remote areas, due to poor roads, unreliable utilities, and limited accommodation. Strict security protocols have to be respected. Individual accommodation in Mogadishu: a secure compound shared with Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH). The guest house is pleasant; HI has one accommodation room which are self-contained and the other spaces are shared with PAH expatriates. Use of public transport is strictly prohibited both in Hargeisa and Mogadishu. Isolation/ Social Life: Very limited access to cultural or sports activities. Curfew times for international staff are in force from 17:00 until 7am.
