JOB CONTEXT:
HI\u2019s Regional Programme (Mashriq) coordinates missions in 5 different countries (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Iraq). The programme is covering the full mandate of HI \u2013 emergency, mine action and development with a strong focus on continuum and resilience.

There are 5 main sectors of intervention: rehabilitation, inclusive education, early child development, BaNEREI (basic needs, economic recovery and economic inclusion) and armed violence reduction.

 

Education is one of the core sector of intervention in most of the countries within the region. HI currently implements inclusive education projects in Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine, while seeking to develop interventions in Egypt and possibly in Iraq.  Based on the evolution of the context in the region, the specialist will have to support the revision of the sectorial strategy developed in the previous years to be adapted to the evolution of the context, especially in Lebanon and Palestine.

YOUR MISSION:

Under the responsibility of the Technical Head of Program of the Regional Program (MASHRIQ), the Inclusive Education Specialist contributes within the 5 countries of the program to the implementation of the mandate and the 10-year strategy of Humanity & Inclusion in the field of Inclusive Education.

HI currently implements inclusive education projects in Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine, while seeking to develop interventions in Egypt and possibly in Iraq.

 

The main missions of the position are:

 

Mission 1: Expertise on Inclusive Education

\u00b7         Contributes to the regional strategies in line with the global strategies

\u00b7         Ensures technical support to projects and project teams in line with the global technical frameworks and standards in the scope of Inclusive Education

\u00b7         Ensures technical learning from projects

\u00b7         Ensures the control & monitoring of the technical quality and the relevance of HI\u2019s activities in the Programmes

\u00b7         Ensures compliance of the technical proposition with nexus stakes (the bridge between the development and humanitarian contexts) and ensure link to Local/National education legislation as appropriate, check the sustainability of activities, work on a transition strategy and align with INEE recommendations

\u00b7         Contributes to the development of research and innovation projects in the region when relevant, in his/her sectorial scope (i.e. IE)

\u00b7         Contributes to the Technical Divisions development and dissemination of the \u201cprofessional channel\u201c on inclusive education which is about competencies and expertise

 

Mission 2. Influence

\u00b7         Contributes to the local external prestige and influence of HI\u2019s expertise in Inclusive Education

\u00b7         Represents the technical expertise of HI throughout the local relevant networks in IE especially education coordination meetings including Education Working Groups et Education Cluster(s).

\u00b7         Contributes to advocacy on specific themes in line with the global advocacy priorities

\u00b7         Contributes to communication messages locally in line with the global communication priorities

\u00b7         Support the good relationships with local/national education authorities (as relevant) and/or camps authorities (including UNHCR)

 

Mission 3. Business development

\u00b7         Ensures and supports the development of major opportunities or new projects in the region alongside other team members

\u00b7         Contributes to the context analysis in the scope of IE

\u00b7         Contributes to the design and writing of new projects in the region and when asked in other countries within the Geographic Division

\u00b7         Identifies & transforms major opportunities in the region, Keep a watch on ECW opportunities (FER, MYRP and AF), ECHO and ad hoc UNICEF calls under his scope

\u00b7         Contributes to the development of major projects (multiple countries, one theme) or of new projects in the region

\u00b7         Identifies & develops local partnerships and/or consortium with NGOs, Institutions, or other organisations on technical priorities linked to inclusive education or important topics in the region (e.g. inclusive education in emergencies)

Requirements

YOUR PROFILE:

\u00b7         You hold a master\u2019s degree in Inclusive or special needs services a/ education, education in emergency

\u00b7         You have minimum 5 years\u2019 experience in international development, in emergency and post crisis environments, in technical positions

\u00b7         You have expertise in primary/secondary education, early childhood, education and international development, planning, curriculum, pedagogy, psychology of education or equivalent), Teaching degree

\u00b7         You master the disability definition, frameworks, main international guidance and tools

\u00b7         You have a good understanding of multisectoral approach in EIE (education, protection, MHPSS/SEL, WASH in school, etc.)
