Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian INGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified HR & Administration Manager for our Office in Addis.

About the job

You will lead and manage the Human Resources and Administrative functions in the Country office. You will provide overall advice, coordination and management of the Human Resources and Administration team at the country office and technical Human Resources support to the field offices; as well as ensure efficient support to the program in accordance with existing DRC policies and procedures.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Lead and manage the Human Resources and Administration team, overseeing people planning, performance, and well-being.

Provide technical support and capacity building to the HR & Administration team, ensuring alignment with DRC policies.

Advise managers on HR-related issues, offering guidance on employee relations, recruitment, and performance management.

Manage annual salary and compensation review process and compensation adjustments.

Lead the development of a gender-balanced HR strategy and staff retention initiatives.

Lead the implementation of HR systems, including the Dynamics HR module, providing training as needed.

Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and staff development processes to ensure consistency across locations.

Manage employee grievances, performance counselling, and disciplinary actions in accordance with local labour laws.

Ensure compliance with legal requirements, including visa renewals, organizational registration, and reporting.

Oversee office management, including infrastructure, insurance, and lease agreements, while ensuring cost containment.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a few years of management experience and have worked both strategically and operationally with several of the tasks above. We hope to hear from you if you have a proven track record in retention and have at some point in your career worked with compensation management. Moreover, we also expect the following:

At least 5 years' experience in relevant field, of which at least 2 years in a senior Human Resources and Administration management role within an NGO

At least 3 years' experience with people management

Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge/experience of Human Resources Management principles, concepts & processes

Extensive knowledge on local labor law

Master’s Degree or post graduate education qualification in Human resources or Business Administration

Full professional proficiency in English and Amharic
