Organizational Setting
The Finance Division recommends and administers financial policies and procedures that meet the highest professional standards; keeps accounts that accurately record financial activities and meet the requirements of internal and external audits; reports the financial status of the Organization and its activities to senior management, the Governing Bodies, and resource partners; and ensures that the processing and recording of receipts and disbursements are timely and made in accordance with established policies and procedures.
The role is based in the Treasury and Banking Unit of the Finance Division. The Treasury and Banking Unit is responsible for ensuring the safekeeping of FAO’s financial assets, its liquidity, funding and correct functioning of its banking network.
Reporting Lines
The Consultant will work under the general supervision of the Head of the Treasury and Banking Unit in the Finance Division.
Technical Focus
Provision of financial services and support on FAO liquidity management and banking operations.
Tasks and responsibilities
• Monitor FAO liquidity and disbursement pattern, liaising with SCC and other CSF units if necessary
• Assist with payment activities and check correct funding of accounts
• Review banking agreements, fee agreements, operational documents supporting FAO’s banking operations as needed
• Liaise with external financial service providers and colleagues dealing with payments and banking operations on behalf of the Treasury and Banking Unit
• Prepare ad-hoc financial reporting and reconciliations on Treasury activities
• Perform other related tasks that may be assigned by Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements
• Advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in banking and finance, law, business administration or a related field. Consultants with bachelor`s degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience
• Relevant experience in liquidity management, payments, financial analysis, financial reporting– at least one year for C–level Consultants, five years for B–level Consultants and ten years for A-level Consultants..
• Working knowledge (level C) of English. Limited knowledge (level B) of one of the other FAO languages is desirable..
