Purpose of the role
The Finance Officer will oversee daily finance activities in the Southern Iraq Area Office and ensuring the operation is compliant with NRC finance policies.
What you will do
Implement NRC’s systems and procedures at the Area Office level. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines, and donor requirements. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement. Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents. Support line manager in procedures and require support team training. Day to day follow of finance implementation. Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills. Prepare and submit reports and analysis.Specifically, you will;
Manage daily accounting activities at the Area office. Review payment documents for accuracy and compliance with donor requirements. Ensure accounting and recording align with NRC finance guidelines. Ensure timely submission of the monthly forecast to the country office. Timely booking of transactions in the NRC accounting system using correct budget codes. Support in handling money transfer agents, banks, and relevant reconciliations. Ensure all supporting documents are added for compliance during monthly spot checks. Properly file and archive all support documents following SSD country SOP.Professional competencies
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Finance Assistant or Finance Officer, preferably in a humanitarian or recovery context. Preferred experience working in International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs). Understanding of personal leadership skills/profile. Solid knowledge of computer software and modern accounting systems. Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Possession of a university bachelor's degree.
