The Finance Assistant intern main objective is to provide efficient and effective financial management according to DRC internal and donor procedures, as per the Operations Handbook.

Responsibilities:

Conduct day-to-day financial activities including bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, and financial reporting as needed. Update ledger daily, ensuring accuracy and balance in the cash book, and accounting for all cash purchases. Process authorized payments under the direction of the Head of DRC Finance and Admin, ensuring completion of payment vouchers and proper authorization. Provide authorized petty cash advances with appropriate documentation and maintain a threshold for advances per staff member. Assist in preparing regular and ad hoc financial reports. Prepare cheques upon completion of work or delivery of supplies, obtaining signatures from bank signatories. Ensure adherence to DRC Finance procedures and policies in a transparent manner. Track project expenditures and provide monthly updates to the Project Manager on project finances. Prepare payroll for staff, including calculations for Social Insurance and Income Tax. Perform additional administrative duties as required to maintain office efficiency. Maintain and update files related to project assets, office equipment, and office finances.

Experience and Technical Competencies

Education and Skills Required: Must possess an internship introduction letter from a recognized university. Currently pursuing a diploma or degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Public Administration from a recognized institution (desirable). Fluency in oral and written English is essential; knowledge of Juba Arabic is an advantage. Excellent communication skills. Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends. Reliable team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
