Org. Setting and ReportingThis position is located in the Office of the Special Coordinator for Lebanon (UNSCOL). The Field Security Assistant GS-3 reports to the Chief Security Officer. Under the direct supervision and delegated authority of the Guard Force Commander. ResponsibilitiesProvides security and safety services including fire prevention and emergency firefighting services, for the protection of all UNSCOL staff members, delegates, visitors, VIPs and property of UNSCOL premises. These include but are not limited to the following: a. Enforces UN access control policies, screens and searches all persons entering and leaving the premises and arranges the issuance and control of daily visitors' passes. b. Conduct ground patrols to secure UNSCOL offices, conference areas, and the perimeter of the premises. c. Monitoring and controlling the movement of UNSCOL's visitors in and out the premises. d. Reports to supervisors and Officer-in Charge of the Guard Force Unit any anomalies and/or intervenes, alone or as directed, based on the circumstances which could prevent the good functioning of activities at the UNSCOL premises. e. Maintain and control traffic entry and exit check points in and out of the premises and in the authorized parking areas. f. Assists with evacuations and intervening in initial incidents before host country help arrives is crucial for minimizing risks and protecting lives while awaiting the arrival of assistance in cases of emergency and any other related incident. g. Coordinating with local authorities for the protection of staff members and property at the premises and strengthens protective measures around the premises. h. Takes appropriate and immediate action in cases of security situations ensuring strict adherence to UN Firearms Rules and Regulations. i. Conducts communication services of telephone operations after regular working hours to maintain connectivity and facilitate efficient communication, ensuring that any urgent information or assistance is handled promptly. Carries out functions related to the personnel protection and safety of the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon and Deputy Special Coordinator for Lebanon and provide escorts as needed.
