    Responsibilities

    Job Summary

    The General Support Services (GSS) is a part of the Administration Division (ADM).

    The Administration Division (ADM), being the second largest division, is responsible for assuring the effective management of the financial and human resources, information technology, procurement, facilities management, general support services, knowledge management and training functions within the Technical Secretariat.

    The General Support Services (GSS) plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient functioning of the Organisation by providing smooth logistical and operational support. It assists with asset and property management, inventory control, supplies, travel, shipping and transportation, fleet management, visas and travel documents, insurance, catering services, mail services, cleaning services and contract management with external service providers.

    The individual contractor will be working in the General Support Section (GSS) / Facilities Management Section (FMS) under the supervision of the Acting Head, GSS/FMS.

    This is a temporary position for 6 months.

    Main Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of facility management tasks, including building repairs, maintenance adaptation tasks, space removals and rearrangements, delivery and filling of supplies and monitoring of activities of outside contractors;
Coordinates and prioritises the activities of service contractors (cleaning, gardening, HVAC, building maintenance);Provides feedback to the Head GSS/FMS on external contractors’ performances as well as suggestions for potential improvements and cost savings;Provides general assistance with audio-visual equipment;Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

Essential:

High school diploma or equivalent diploma of secondary education.

Desirable:

A technical background including audio-visual equipment skills.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential:

At least one year of related experience.

Desirable:

Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment and basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems.

Skills and Competencies

Basic problem-solving skills;Effective time-management abilities;Flexibility and ability to work steadily with several ongoing tasks;Hands-on mentality;Semi-independent;Well-organized and focused on problem-solving.

Languages

Fluency in English is essential and a good working knowledge of one of the other official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is desirable.

Additional Information

This consultancy is for a period of six months.

A monthly fee will be paid. This is not a staff position and all other costs to be borne by the Individual Contractor. (Inc. tax and insurance).
