    Based in the WFP Pacific Multi-Country Office (PMCO) in Suva, Fiji, under the supervision of the Head of the Technology Unit (TEC)/Pacific ETC Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

    • Support the conception, leadership and implementation of ETC preparedness and resilience projects and activities across the Pacific region.

    • Support the Pacific ETC Coordinator in their role, ensuring representation in coordination meetings, workshops, Pacific Humanitarian Team (PHT) meetings, and other fora related to emergency telecommunications, coordination and disaster preparedness in the Pacific.

    • Assist the Pacific ETC Coordinator with assigned tasks, including in their absence, taking ownership of assigned tasks and liaising with WFP country Senior Management and regional/global counterparts as required.

    • Advise the Pacific ETC Coordinator, Capacity Development Officer and partners on areas of technical assistance for emergency telecommunications such as satellite communications, radio communications and internet connectivity.

    • Maintain regular contact and direct engagement with various WFP/ETC stakeholders, including national, regional, and international agencies and partners such as National Disaster Management Offices (NDMOs), Ministries of IT and Communications, and Telecommunication Regulators, ensuring that ETC country and regional mailing lists are kept updated accordingly.

    • Act as the information management focal point for ETC activities in the Pacific, ensuring timely and accurate completion of internal and external reporting requirements such as situation reports, factsheets, concepts of operation and other relevant operational documents.

    • Identify, collect, process, analyze, and visualize data related to ETC preparedness and response operations to support evidence-based decision making.

    • Support technical ICT assessments across PICTs, suggesting recommendations for strengthening of infrastructure capacity, coordination mechanisms and national disaster preparedness and response processes.

    • Support and assist in the design and delivery of training, workshops and simulation exercises under the guidance of the Pacific ETC Coordinator in the area of ETC preparedness.

    • In emergencies, support deployments at the request of national authorities and WFP management to provide technical assistance and/or coordination capacity to government-led disaster response efforts.

    • Perform other duties as required.
