Your responsibilities
In this position, you will join the Accelerator Systems Department (SY) and work within the Radio Frequency (RF) group, responsible for the acceleration and longitudinal control of the particle beams.
Within the framework of the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) project, fast analog and digital signal processing techniques are being developed to control the electrical field in the accelerating or deflecting cavities operating in the radio-frequency range (400MHz in the LHC). We employ either off-the-shelf mixed-signal analog and digital electronics modules, or in-house developments based on large FPGA devices.
As an Electronics Design Engineer, you will:
Develop firmware and embedded software to implement IP-Cores for functions such as: data logging, signal processing, feedback, and control algorithms in FPGA;Develop hardware modules, including all stages from specification, design, to testing prototypes and small series production;Design, prototype, and test electronic components and systems;Design and simulate FPGA firmware; Develop test setups, script writing, and conduct comprehensive performance characterization; Collaborate closely with firmware and software engineers; Oversee the selection and procurement of hardware and components for design and production;Generate and manage technical documentation, testing procedures, and operational guidelines. Provide training for team members.Your profile

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
