Work LocationColombo - Sri Lanka Expected duration3 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe UN Resident Coordinator leads the UN Country Team in Sri Lanka, bringing together UN agencies to enhance the coherence and impact of their work in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) provides strategic planning, coordination, and joint advocacy support—particularly around the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), the key instrument guiding UN engagement in the country. The RCO is seeking a motivated Intern to support data and partnership processes at the UN system in Sri Lanka. This internship is UNPAID and full time. The minimum duration of an internship is two months and can be extended up to a total of duration of six months. Interns work for 5 days (37.5 hours) per week under the supervision of a staff member in the division or office they are assigned. Work under the guidance and supervision of the Partnership and Data officers on the following requirements • Support in the data collection and cleaning process of programmatic data from UN agencies • Support in the development of dashboards required for internal stakeholder groups. • Support in any other reporting requirement. • Assist in tracking and documenting resource mobilization efforts, including contributions to pooled funds and joint programming initiatives. • Contribute to the maintenance of the Partnerships and Development Finance knowledge repository Qualifications/special skillsTo qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). A bachelor’s degree in Data, Statistics, Marketing, Management, Business, International relations or a related field would be an advantage. However, those with other equivalent qualifications are also encouraged to apply. - Working knowledge of MS office tools is a requirement, specifically the ability to use Excel and Power Point fluently. - Strong organizational and documentation skills. Experience in data collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation is an advantage Experience with developing dashboards in Excel, Power Bi, or other data visualization software is an advantage. Experience in coordination support is an advantage. Experience or coursework in international development, public policy, or economics is an advantage. LanguagesLanguage: Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge in one of the local languages (Sinhala or Tamil) is desirable.
