Work LocationOffice Based - Geneva Switzerland Expected duration6 months (with possibility of extension for up to 12 months) Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Global Framework on Chemicals - For a Planet Free of Harm (GFC) is an inclusive, voluntary global policy framework on the safe and sustainable management of chemicals and waste and is hosted by UNEP, Chemicals and Health Branch in Geneva. The objective of this IC contract is to support the Global Framework on Chemicals Secretariat to maintain a comprehensive, well-functioning monitoring, reporting, and information management system that enables effective tracking of progress in the implementation of the Global Framework on Chemicals. The Support is needed from a Data Analyst/Visualization Expert to mine, collect and analyze data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights that enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. The IC will take a key role in exploration, identification, and acquisition of data sources to determine their suitability for use in decision making and advancing the goals of the Global Framework on Chemicals; enable broader use of data sources by applying quality methods to structure, clean, format, parse, and standardize for analytical use; manage the new framework instrument reporting process and support the assessment of progress towards the objectives and targets ; ensure that processes of identifying, organizing, storing, and disseminating information is secured; facilitate and dissemination of information to support implementation of the Global Framework on Chemicals by stakeholders. Duties and Responsibilities are : 1) Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. 2) Manages the new framework instrument reporting process including tracking progress and measurability to report to the Global Framework on Chemicals by all participants and supports the assessment of progress towards the objectives and indicators. 3) Ensures that knowledge management processes of identifying, organizing, storing, and disseminating information in support of Global Framework on Chemicals implementation is secured. This includes managing data bases to support implementation and promoting the exchange of relevant scientific and technical information among relevant stakeholders. 4) Facilitates the development and dissemination of guidance materials (including alternative funding mechanisms) to support implementation of the Global Framework on Chemicals by stakeholders. 5) Performs other duties as required. Qualifications/special skills- An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in economics, sustainable development, social sciences, or a related field or A first-level degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. - Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is required for this data analytics-focused position. - Experience in the use of mining data from different sources - Experience with information technology tools, including artificial intelligence tools - Four (4) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area - Experience in working in an intergovernmental environment Languages- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English (level III) is required. Level II of another official United Nations language is desirable.
