Setting and ReportingThis position is located in the Disarmament, Demobilization, Reintegration and Stabilization Section in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo DRC. The incumbent will be stationed in Bukavu within the Residual Capacity team of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Congo MONUSCO. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, and under the direct supervision of the Head of the Integrated Office and the Principal Coordinator of the Disarmament, Demobilization, Reintegration and Stabilization Section under the DSRSG-RC-HC Pillar, the Coordination Officer will carry out the following duties. • Supports and engages in multi-stakeholders’ coordination frameworks to support the national Program for Disarmament, Demobilization, Community Reintegration and Stabilization Program (P-DDRCS), • Identifies key issues including challenges that require immediate support and advice to the P-DDRCS • Maintains relations and advises UN agencies focal points and directly supports the work of the United Nations Integrated Working Groups, in particular as regards to strategies for advocacy and engagement with local stakeholders. • Liaises with UN agencies, relevant departments of the Government, facilitates coordination meetings and relevant forums that would enhance coordination and resources mobilization and utilizations, advocates and promotes the work of the mission. • Monitors and analyses the situational awareness and integrated reporting obligations within the SSU. • Drafts routine and ad hoc situation reports/briefings, also coordinating deeper reporting analysis. • Generates operational and integrated reporting with a proper analysis, providing comprehensive and timely products. • Coordinates political, operational, security, socio-economic, humanitarian, transitional justice and public information aspects for current and future planning in the P-DDRCS process and within the overall transition plan of MONUSCO. • Carries out the cross-check imputes from different components to ensure that the daily and weekly reports are internally consistent and accurate. • Consolidates a secure, web-based tool for registration, approval, authorized access and storage of operational reports, including daily and weekly situational reports. • Performs any other assigned duties. Work ExperienceA minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in coordinating development activities in national governments and/or at the international level is required. Previous experience in coordinating development activities in post-conflict countries and/or in international organizations or in support of a field operation of the United Nations Common System or a comparable international organization is desirable. Experience analyzing political, economic and social challenges and communicating strategic policy and programmatic advice, including to senior leadership, donors and governments, is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English, (both oral and written) is required.
