About this position:
The Department of Central American Countries, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, and the Dominican Republic (CID) is looking for a consultant to support the work of the Regional Economic Advisor (REA). The consultant will be part of the team of economists that reports directly to the REA, coordinating with the rest of the economists, and developing a wide range of functions that contribute to the achievement of economic growth and social development of the region, including macroeconomic monitoring, analysis of development challenges, and knowledge generation.
The IDB is a long-term development partner in the CID Region, with a substantial portfolio across many sectors. These necessities accurate assessments and guidance of the IDB's actions within the country in development goals are to be met in an effective manner. The CID Department supports the development, processing, negotiation and administration of projects and programs; leads and maintain relations with governments and civil society members; (3) supports the routine implementation of operations; and (4) monitors project-related procurement activities within the country. The Department monitors the region’s macroeconomic environment, conducts economic and sector studies, and organizes workshops to strengthen knowledge capacity. Given this context, fulfilling the goals and vision of the Department requires the strategic, administrative and technical abilities of a research assistant, to support the country economists in policy dialogue, macroeconomic monitoring and economic analysis.
