About the Position
Social media and campaigns are essential activities of the Communications and Marketing team. They help promote WorldFish\u2019s vision, visibility and voice and position it as a trusted partner and source of scientific and cutting-edge expertise, needed to advance its mission and gain buy-in from governments, donors, civil society, private sector and wider stakeholders.
The Communications Specialist \u2013 Social media and Campaigns will provide a range of high-quality communications and knowledge sharing services in the following areas of Communications activities, under the guidance of the Communications Manager:
Social Media
Manage and lead WorldFish\u2019s social media presence by strategizing and creating appealing content, including multi-media, to promote blogs, stories, campaigns, events, job advertisements, publications etc., to increase WorldFish\u2019s visibility and disseminate its science and outcomes online. Develop visual cards using Canva graphics, reels and video bites to promote WorldFish\u2019s content on social media. Stay updated on trends in social media and emerging storytelling tools and tactics to guide WorldFish\u2019s social media strategy. Track, analyse, and report on content performance and audience engagement to inform strategy.Campaigns and International Days
Work closely with the Communications Manager, leadership and the larger Communications team to develop global campaigns, such as around Climate Change and Malnutrition, including developing messaging for social media, curating relevant stories and publications, designing events at regional and global events and production of related event materials. Coordinate with CGIAR and other partners on campaigns, contributing WorldFish\u2019s content to partners\u2019 channels \u2013 social media, newsletters, and websites. Align our social media content and messaging with strategic UN Campaigns such as World Oceans Day, World Food Day and World Fisheries Day, etc, through events and social media channels.Event Planning and Coordination
Serve as focal person in Communications team for events planning (external and internal), contributing to the conceptualization and coordinating with scientists and project leads on agenda, content preparation and coordination with speakers. Develop and maintain events and International Days calendar and identify priorities and mechanisms for engagement in collaboration with the team and scientists. Prepare event promotion materials, such as graphic cards with speaker names and event page on the website. Lead planning and coordinate WorldFish\u2019s monthly knowledge sharing hybrid event, Fish4Thought. This includes working with colleagues to co-develop, shape, and promote the content, agenda, and participation through internal event announcements and channels.Other Communications Support
Support Communications Manager in the preparation of WorldFish\u2019s external newsletter by curating monthly content and drafting blurbs for blogs, stories and other highlights. Provide oversight and support as needed to Communications colleagues in country offices.Key Responsibilities include:
Support and guide social media strategy, tools, processes and guidelines for WorldFish. Develop high-quality content for varied social media channels and formats (text, graphics and multi-media) with support and in coordination with the communications team to promote research outcomes, impact stories and messages on WorldFish\u2019s mission, call to action, and priorities. Work closely with the Communications Manager and larger team to help develop campaigns, including social media campaigns, participation in regional and global events and production of related event materials. Maintain and promote International Events (calendar) and identify priorities and mechanisms for engagement in collaboration with the team and scientists. Serve as the Communication\u2019s Team internal focal person to promote social media for internal and external events. Support campaign components of major events and conferences, including online promotion, live social media coverage, and post-event follow-up. Coordinate with CGIAR and WorldFish partners on events and campaigns. Monitor social media metrics and analytics, prepare reports, and propose data-driven adjustments to improve reach, engagement, and effectiveness. Take initiative, manage timelines, and work proactively across teams to deliver high-quality content and campaigns, while aligning with team and organizational priorities.Requirements
This job might be for you if you have the below skills and qualifications:
Bachelor\u2019s degree from a recognized University and/or College program in communications/marketing/journalism or related field with a minimum of three years' experience. Excellent planning, organization and time management skills. Experience leading and managing corporate social media handles, preferably of an international organization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to extract topline messages from publications and develop succinct and appealing communications materials for social media channels in line with the strategic vision and style of WorldFish. Experience supporting/running in-person and hybrid events. Excellent research skills, including the ability to analyze performance of social media channels to generate informative reports. Savvy with creation of reels and multi-media content for social media channels. Strong knowledge and experience in using social media channels, such as X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Ability to use or familiarity with Canva and other graphic designing software will be considered an asset, as well as confidence to experiment with new digital communications technologies and programs. Ability and confidence to moderate events, highly desirable but not essential Strong and effective team player, who actively promotes and supports colleagues with knowledge sharing, innovation and learning. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.Desirable Skills/Experience
Experience working in an international setup. Knowledge of or desire to learn about sustainability, climate change, food systems, and aquatic foods. Experience in communications/public relations in the non-profit sector Experience in videography, photography and motion graphics preferred but not essential Knowledge of WorldFish research activities, programs and servicesBenefits
Salary & Benefits
This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position and WorldFish offers a competitive remuneration package including comprehensive benefits (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, employer provident fund contribution, paid leave, and others. The duration of the contract will initially be for a three-year period with possibility for extension, depending on funding and performance.
