Work LocationMexico City - In person Expected duration3 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position is located in the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Mexico City, within the Information Centres Service (ICS) of the Campaigns and Country Operations Division (CCOD) of the Department of Global Communications (DGC). The UNIC is part of the global network of United Nations Information Centres (UNICs), and UNIC Mexico City is the principal source of information about the United Nations system in Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. It is responsible for promoting public understanding and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by communicating the work of the UN to a local audience in local languages; engaging local and regional partners; and, overall, bringing the United Nations closer to the peoples it serves. The UNIC Mexico City is integrated with the Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) in Mexico since the operationalization of the United Nations development system reform on 1 January 2019. This role is critical in raising awareness of the work of the United Nations in Mexico, especially important to position and support the new UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2026-2031. The incumbent will be responsible for designing a communications plan and key products for the UN Mexico Results Report and will contribute substantively to the design of a new UN Mexico Communications strategy, including planning and implementing communications activities and public information products. The incumbent will conduct a UNCG needs assessment, the body responsible for implementing the UN Communications Strategy, including on the critical area of Information Integrity, and will contribute to the design of a UN Information Integrity workplan, identify tools and mechanisms to strengthen the capacities of the UNCG in the information integrity domain. In addition, the incumbent will contribute to the creation of public information content for web, social media, media outlets and other key publics, aligned with UN International Days, key reports and other UN global and country priorities. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Director of UNIC Mexico. Qualifications/special skillsA first level university degree in communications, journalism, international relations, or related field is required. Five (5) years of experience in communication, including experience in writing for the web and social media and/or mass media is required. • Proven experience developing digital content, including creating and editing multimedia materials for social media using tools like Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, CapCut or similar platforms. • Experience in graphic design creating content such as infographics, visuals, and promotional materials tailored to print and digital platforms. Proficient use of graphic design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign, Canva or others, particularly in creating multimedia content for digital marketing and social media campaigns. • Experience capturing and editing high-quality photographs during high-level events and meetings, ensuring visuals are aligned with communication goals and suitable for digital and print media. • Fluency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is required. • Previous experience with United Nations agencies, programs, and funds or similar international organization is desirable.
