About this position

We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and proactive communicator. As a communicator and dissemination consultant, you will contribute to positioning the department as the leader in the urban development and housing sector within the IDB and in the region.

​You will work in the knowledge and communication team as part of the Housing and Urban Development division (CSD/HUD). This team is responsible for communicating to internal and external audiences’ knowledge from operations, and knowledge products. ​

What you’ll do:

  • Support the Dissemination of CSD/HUDs analytical and operational work, in coordination with CSD and alignment with the IDB vision and following IDB guidelines.
  • Provide cross-office internal communication support to CSD/HUD teams on designing, editing, and disseminating reports, publications, presentations, slide decks, and other materials.
  • ​Edit and support the maintenance of CSD/HUD’s website and social media platforms, posting new content; coordinate content posting on relevant blogs and other social media outreach and engagement.
  • Coordinate and collaborate in the creation, publication, and launch of multimedia content and promotional materials, including infographics, videos, photo stories, posters, flyers, etc.
  • Design, edit, and disseminate CSD/HUD’s monthly external newsletter and internal weekly updates for staff.
  • Coordinate with other IDB Group divisions and CSD on press request approvals, and support CSD/HUD on media inquiries
  • Manage projects and production of knowledge products following IDB regulations.
  • Support CSD/HUD internal and external outreach events, including developing background briefs; collating information and presentation materials; and drafting memos/reports summarizing event outcomes.

    What you'll need

    • Education: Master's degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in communication, public relations, marketing, advertising, international relations, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
    • Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience managing communication plans, publications, and outreach projects in national or international organizations
    • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

        Requirements:

        • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
        • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

          Type of contract and duration:

          • Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time.
          • Length of contract: 12 months.
          • Work Location: On site.
