UNEP Early Warning and Assessment Division (EWAD) is at the core of implementing this unique mandate. It envisions a planet where science-based environmental data, information and knowledge drives policy and action for a world that is sustainable, safe and inclusive. The overall objective of EWAD is to respond to requests from Member States, major groups and stakeholders such as governments, the private sector and civil society, to keep the global environment under review. Its mission, therefore, is to strengthen the science-policy interface by working with and through partners to develop, share and use the science-based environmental data, information and knowledge necessary to enable implementation, in transformative and impactful ways, of the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and achieve its seventeen Sustainable Development Goals.
