Job-ID: V000060255 Location: Buea Assignment period: 02/01/2025 - 03/31/2027 Field: Peace, Security and Emergency Type of employment: full-time Application deadline: 12/03/2024The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a programme for the prevention of violence and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. In Cameroon, CPS contributes to nonviolent conflict transformation, violence prevention, and strengthening social cohesion. CPS supports civil society partners in their collective goal-oriented commitment to non-violent conflict transformation, the improvement of social relations through dialogue, and the practice of democratic participation of young people. Measures of psychosocial support to enable people to deal with psychosocial consequences of violence and polarisation are additionally developed with partners and their target groups. As a CPS advisor for conflict-sensitive peacebuilding in Buea, you will be based in the partner organisation CHRDA (part-time) and in a shared GIZ office (part-time). You will be in charge of supporting CHRDA in the development of technical and methodological approaches to peacebuilding, and of deepening the analysis of context, conflicts, actors and potentials for peace for future strategic CPS program design in the South-West Region.

The security situation is tense. Tailored security risk mitigation measures are in place for GIZ staff in country. GIZ staff must adhere to security measures at all times. Please also check the county-specific information provided by the German Federal Foreign Office. GIZ runs a professional security risk management system in the field of deployment. The freedom of movement is restricted. It is not possible for life partners and family members to move with you to the country of deployment. Short-term lockdowns may occur, making relocation necessary in other cities, like Douala or Yaounde.

At the site of operation, the particulate pollution occurs to be many time higher than the European acceptable limit. As part of the selection process and during the recruitment examination you will be informed of appropriate protective and behavioral measures.
GIZ's Development Service is looking forward to applications of candidates with a professional qualification and / or university degree and at least two years of professional experience. In addition you hold the German nationality or the nationality of a member state of the European Union.
