Purpose for the job:
Under the overall direction and guidance of the Child Protection Specialist, the Child Protection Officer will provide professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for child protection programmes/projects within the Country Programme from development planning to delivery of results. The Child Protection Officer will prepare, execute, manage, and implement a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, programme progress monitoring, evaluating and reporting, specifically related to response services for children victims of violence.
Summary of key functions/accountabilities:
The post holder is responsible for providing predictable, timely and strategic leadership on Child Protection in Humanitarian Action and supporting technically the Protection Sector at national and sub-national levels. The post holder is responsible for collaborating with a range of stakeholders, beyond their immediate direct reports, to work collectively towards the realization of a shared goal based on evidence.
The post holder's main tasks and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Programme management, planification, monitoring and delivery of results
Technical and operational support to programme implementationNetworking and partnership building
Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building
Strengthen national and local capacity

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
A university degree (Bachelor) in one of the following fields is required: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, social work, international law, or another relevant field. A minimum of two (02) years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection related areas is required. Experience working in developing country is considered an asset.Experience working on child protection case management service delivery or social work-related topics is considered an asset.
Experience working as a social worker or case worker for children or women is considered an advantage.
Relevant experience in programme development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
