JOB CONTEXT:

The Syrian crisis is the greatest humanitarian crisis of the last 20 years. According to the latest UN figures (HNO 2023), about 15.3 million people are currently affected by the crisis in Syria. Twelve years after the beginning of the crisis, the number of injured persons in Syria keeps rising, with a severe lack of healthcare in many areas. In large areas of the country, the local economy is in bad shape, local populations and IDPs are in need of livelihoods assistance. The inclusion of the most vulnerable, including persons with disabilities.

From its office in Amman, HI is managing its Syria program which is implemented via three different hubs (Beirut, North-West and North-East), along three main pillars:

1. Support to health partners (hospitals, psychosocial support centers, local NGOs) for the provision of multidisciplinary rehabilitation services.

2. Humanitarian Mine action (HMA)

3. Training and technical support to other humanitarian actors on the inclusion of persons with disabilities

HI actual intervention is based on a mix of remote management of national teams, remote partnerships with local structures and organizations, and direct implementation programs. HI response in Syria is implemented by approximately of 300 staff, with a yearly budget of 14m\u20ac.

Requirements

YOUR MISSION:

You will contribute to the implementation of Humanity & Inclusion's mandate and ten-year strategy in the region. He/she is in charge of the coherence in the strategy and in the execution of the project. He/she is responsible for optimising the quality and impact of the project through a delegation system with appropriate control mechanisms. He/she shares responsibility with all HI managers for the sound management and optimal functioning of the overall organisation.

You will be also in charge of managing a potential HI-led consortium.

Mission 1: Management of the landlord and partnership relationship

Donor Relations: ensure compliance with the donor\u2019s and represent HI Coordination and management of partnerships

Mission 2: Coordination of operations

Ensure coherence in project strategy and implementation, in collaboration with relevant departments and in accordance with general standards and procedures. Ensure the management and compilation of project data. To contribute to the steering of the transformation of the organisation, in particular through changes in working and management methods and the continuous improvement of work processes. Develop HI's external influence (forums, operational and strategic alliances, etc.) and the organisation's external representation (events, media) in its area of responsibility.


Mission 3: Principles and know-how: ensuring the deployment of and compliance with global frameworks, institutional policies and HI principles.


Mission 4: staff management.

 

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POSITION:

The access to North-East Syria is done via Erbil, in Iraq, with the support of HI Iraq program Accessibility: multi-storey building

 

YOUR PROFILE:

You have at least 2 years of professional work experience in emergency/protracted emergencies You have experiences on donor relations, external relations, fundraising and strategic positioning You know how design and coordinate of complex emergency interventions You speak good English and Arabic is an asset
