Work LocationBrasilia, Brazil Expected duration18 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe UNEP-convened Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector, the environmental community, and other members of civil society. The CCAC is the only international initiative working on integrated climate and clean air solutions to reduce the rate of near-term warming. It focuses on fast action to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) including methane, black carbon, HFCs and tropospheric ozone. More information about the Global Methane Pledge is here: www.globalmethanepledge.org The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hosts the Secretariat at the Economy Division in Paris. The CCAC Programme Manager (Co-Chair & Hubs Support) will assist Brazil in its role as CCAC Co-Chair, as well as support the functioning and engagement of the CCAC Hubs and related activities (particularly Lowering Organic Waste Methane “LOW-M”). Objectives: The selected candidate will provide hands-on support to: 1. Support Brazil in its role as Co-Chair of the CCAC, including preparing briefings and inputs (especially in relation to CCAC Board meetings), tracking key events and opportunities, proposing topics and events for CCAC support, coordinating the calendar of the Co-Chair for key CCAC meetings, etc 2. With the support of the CCAC Co-Chair, ensure consistent communication across Brazilian government departments/ministries to inform them of CCAC and partner-led activities and funding opportunities, and in turn provide Brazilian government priorities as topics for discussion and support during CCAC Board and ministerial meetings, providing draft documents and or inputs to agendas or CCAC Secretariat documents as needed 3. Support the CCAC Secretariat Hubs Team to ensure these are active communities of practice, and that they have strategic leadership and engagement from key partners — and with an initial focus on LOW-M activities and the broader Waste Hub 4. Provide other ad hoc support on key CCAC activities of relevance to Brazil and/or the Hubs, e.g. on follow-up to CCAC-supported activities, engagement of developing countries, etc Qualifications/special skills- Advanced university degree, master or equivalent, in environmental science, sustainable development, or management, economics, politics, international relations or a similar discipline. - A first-level university degree in combination with four additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. - At least 5 years of professional experience working in a field relevant to climate change, air pollution, sustainable development or environment and health is required. - Demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance, including through project management and policy development, to governments and other stakeholders is required. - Demonstrated ability in multi-stakeholder process and stakeholder engagement is required.
