Work LocationAviation Section, Bentiu Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Aviation Security Assistant will be based in Bentiu and under the direct supervision of Air Operations OIC in Bentiu, and supporting UNMISS Aviation operations by providing AVSEC in accordance with established rules and regulations, will be responsible for; • Develop the details of a security plan and AVSEC documentation for Bentiu region. • Review the safety and security measures presently in use for the protection of passenger and air cargo in coordination with other relevant agencies and units. • Design, develop and implement an AVSEC guidelines for Bentiu within the confines of the DPKO Aviation Manual and other related international regulations and practices. • Review safety and security measures aboard aircraft in flight and anti-hijacking procedures, security devices and systems used, information and intelligence collection and dissemination procedures. • In coordination with Aviation training officer, organize, prepare and present training curriculum and courses for personnel engaged in AVSEC functions. • Prepare daily safety and security assessments of region and prepare reports. • Brief crew and other staff members on any Avsec related issues. • Coordinate with aviation safety, UNDSS, local security authorities on Avsec concerns. • Provide on-job training for national staff and other entities supporting UNMISS operations. • Routinely brief the Chief Aviation Officer through OIC Bentiu region on AVSEC matters and discuss any issues of concern. • Perform any other duty as may be assigned by OIC Air Operation of Bentiu region. • Implement access control measures in an around airstrip/ helipad. Qualifications/special skillsHigh school diploma or certificate is required. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Aviation Security (AVSEC) area is required Valid driving permit for light vehicles is required Basic training in AVSEC from International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and or International Air Transport Association (IATA) is required. Advanced training on AVSEC from ICAO/ IATA and train the trainer in AVSEC is desirable LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
