1.     Organizational Context

 

a.    Organizational Setting

 

The assignment is located in the Madrid Information and Promotion Division (Madrid IPD), Madrid Registry.  Madrid IPD is responsible for the provision of information on and promotion of the Madrid System with a view to increasing its geographical scope among WIPO Member States and encouraging increased use of the System.  Madrid IPD is also responsible for the management of customer service and the development of Madrid online services.

 

b.    Purpose Statement

 

The incumbent will support Madrid IPD work on educational and promotional activities and tools.  This includes coordinating educational and information products in order to develop the capacity of IP Offices, and enhance knowledge of trademark holders and representatives to use the Madrid System effectively.

 

c.    Reporting Lines

 

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Communications and Information Manager, Madrid Information and Promotion Division.

 

 

2.      Duties and Responsibilities

 

The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:

 

a.   Draft and maintain the public education and awareness framework on the Madrid System for end users.

 

b.   Develop educational and promotional  products for users of the Madrid System, in collaboration with relevant units in the Madrid Registry and across the organization, including proposals, briefs, and related scripts for tutorials, promotional videos, podcasts, and other products, and outline/write content for online and printed materials.

 

c.   Coordinate the Madrid Registry public webinar program in cooperation with other units, in particular with the WIPO External Offices, including topic selection, preparation of materials, rehearsals, delivery of presentations and assessment.

 

d.   Plan, organize and implement educational virtual and in-person events for IP Offices and trademarks users.  Deliver general and ad hoc training on the Madrid System such as online services, legal framework or operation.

 

e.   Assist in the organization of, and participate in, promotional meetings and events in WIPO headquarters and abroad to stimulate interest in, and knowledge of, the International Trademark System, and reply to specific enquiries about the Madrid System.

 

f.    Monitor and report regularly on webinar performance and event analytics; propose training for staff to enhance technical skills, and competencies in presentation and educational activities; follow up on recommendations/issues identified to find specific trainings from external providers.  Share experience on webinars and audiovisual products with other WIPO units.

 

g.   Perform other related duties as required.

 

 

3.      Requirements

 

Education (Essential)

First-level university degree in communications, online marketing or education or a related discipline.

 

Education (Desirable)

First-level university degree in law or IP.

 

Experience (Essential)

At least three years of professional experience in the field of communications, education, promotion or a related field.

 

Experience (Desirable)

Experience in IP related industry.

 

Experience working in an international setting and/or multicultural environment.

 

Prior experience in multimedia and video production to support education and promotion activities.

 

Experience of using webinar and video conferencing solutions for training and education activities.

 

Language (Essential)

Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English.

 

Language (Desirable)

Good written and spoken knowledge of French or Spanish.

 

Knowledge of other official UN languages.

Job Related Competencies (Desirable)

Knowledge of the trademark registration and Madrid System related processes and capacity to explain the rules and procedures governing the area of work.

 

Knowledge of audiovisual project management and video editing software.

 

Ability to remain abreast of new communications trends and understanding of effective communication through video.
