Purpose of Job:
The position is of an LTT Associate that provides legal assistance and support to OGC counsel across the range of different matters both in terms of substance and complexity and may be assigned primary responsibility for providing legal advice and support on less complex and/or lower risk matters.
The Associate supports the Sustainable Finance Governance and Regulation and Natural Resources areas within OGC by assisting the members of such team in the provision of all relevant legal services in their areas of responsibility, ensuring the highest standards of documentation, protection of EBRD's interests and compliance with EBRD's mandate, policies, and procedures, while the Associate may be assigned primary responsibility for less complex and/or lower risk matters. The Associate may interact directly with a large number of internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
(a) Provides specialist legal advice in a multi-disciplinary team with a view to protect EBRD’s interests and ensure compliance with EBRD’s internal policies.
(b) The Associate will typically be responsible for supporting legal teams within OGC, in particular the Sustainable Finance Governance and Regulation (SFGR) Unit and natural resources and mining Senior Counsel by assisting the members of such teams in the following aspects of their work:
(c) Supporting the delivery of the SFGR Unit’s objectives and workplan, which include advising clients (i.e., financial institutions, corporates and cities/municipalities) on enhancing their climate and nature risk governance and developing transition plans to facilitate climate finance;
(d) Supporting delivery of the activities of LTT’s Natural Resources sector focus, which includes researching and advising on best practice policy, regulation and governance of the sector, as well as implementation of related technical cooperation activities;
(e) Performs tasks set out in paragraph (b) without counsel’s involvement on a discrete number of less complex and/or lower risk matters for which the Associate may be assigned primary responsibility.
(f) Advises clients on legal matters in relation to the home jurisdiction of the Associate.
(g) Develops and preserves thorough knowledge of EBRD’s internal policies, procedures and templates with a view to ensure compliance of activities with such policies, procedures and templates. Follows up on legal developments in jurisdictions where EBRD operates.
(h) Follows up on the deliverables and deadlines for a portfolio of activities in order to ensure their timely completion. Identifies and flags potential threats in a timely manner to avoid delays.
