Org. Setting and ReportingThis position is located in the Resident Coordinator Office for Iraq, in Baghdad, and reports to the Resident Coordinator and the Head of the Liquidation Entity. Responsibilities1. Government Liaison and Transition Support • Supports the RC in engaging Government counterparts on substantive and operational transition-related issues, including the humanitarian–development–peace nexus. • Assists in resolving bottlenecks with Government authorities, including matters related to the transition and common premises. • Facilitates discussions with relevant Government authorities to facilitate UNCT activities and implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) . 2. Support to Resident Coordinator–Led Initiatives • Contributes to the implementation and monitoring of initiatives led by the Resident Coordinator and residual UNAMI substantive tasks, including the UNSDCF, the Durable Solutions Roadmap, and the ONE UN Plan. • Identifies key issues and challenges requiring timely support, analysis, or policy advice. • Drafts routine and ad hoc reports, briefing notes, and analytical updates. 3. Joint Coordination Forum (JCF) • Provides secretariat support to JCFs, including organizing meetings, preparing agendas, drafting summary reports, and maintaining documentation. • Supports JCF focal points in coordinating inputs and follow-up actions. 4. UNCT Coordination, Advocacy, and Stakeholder Engagement • Supports UN agencies and the UN Country Team (UNCT) on advocacy strategies and engagement with local stakeholders. • Liaises with UN entities, Government counterparts, donors, and civil society to facilitate effective coordination, information exchange, and resource mobilization. • Monitors, analyses, and reports on political, security, socioeconomic, and development trends affecting UNCT programming and transition. 5. Programmatic Advice • Provides inputs to ensure UNCT programmatic activities are aligned with national plans, priorities, and development strategies. • Supports coordination processes that strengthen the alignment of UN programmes with the Cooperation Framework. 6. Other Duties • Undertakes any additional tasks assigned by the Resident Coordinator in support of UN–Government cooperation and the broader UN transition process. • Ensures the quality of Arabic texts and English–Arabic translations. • Performs other duties as required.
