Your responsibilities
The Future Circular Collider (FCC) study explores different collider options to offer a solid and diverse physics potential, following the High Luminosity phase of the Large Hadron Collider programme.
We are looking for an experienced applied physicist to work on FCC beam dynamics and Radio Frequency studies.
You will be a part of:
The Accelerator Systems department (SY), which is responsible for the accelerator beam-related technical systems.The Radio Frequency group (RF), which is responsible for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of CERN's RF systems.The Beams & RF Studies (BR) section focuses on beam dynamics studies primarily in the longitudinal plane, including interactions of the beam with RF systems and accelerator environment.You will:
Analyse longitudinal beam dynamics aspects like instabilities and beam loading in FCC and its booster synchrotron.Collaborate closely with RF and beam dynamics experts for the development of codes and numerical tools.Optimise RF system parameters depending on the choice of frequency, RF cavity design, and mode of operation.

Skills and/or knowledge
Good knowledge of Python for numerical analysis and code development;Knowledge of applied electrodynamics;Knowledge of longitudinal beam dynamics would be an asset;Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.Eligibility criteria:
You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a professional background in Applied Physics (or a related field) and have either: a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.Job closing date: 06.05.2024 at 23:59h (midnight) CEST.
