Work LocationAviation Section, Rumbek Expected duration6 Months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position is located in the Aviation Section of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and based in Rumbek. The incumbent reports directly to the Officer-in-Charge of Rumbek Air Operations. Duties and responsibilities - Under the delegated authority, The Air Traffic Contral Assistant will be responsible for: • Provision of appropriate Air Traffic Services (Aerodrome Flight Information) to all known air traffic according to the established procedure (ref. ICAO Annexes, Documents, ATC Manual, AIP etc, SOP). • Provision of Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) and Alerting Service to all known air traffic under the jurisdiction according to the established procedures. • Provision of apron management and bay assignment for accommodating different categories of aircraft during peak hour. • Slotting and sequencing of air traffic for smooth operation during peak hour (providing flight information). • Planning and scheduling of day-to-day ATS operational work. • Coordinating with different units involved in the airport operation for smooth operation of flight. • Checking serviceability of aviation equipment. • Checking runway condition as and when required. • Coordinating with Rescue and Fire Fighting Unit/ Air Operations Unit/ Juba Flight Following Unit for safe/ efficient air operations. Qualifications/special skillsHigh school diploma or certificate is required A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Air Traffic Services is required Valid driving license with category A or B is required Valid Air Traffic Control License is required. Training in Air Traffic Control Service is required. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
