Tätigkeitsbereich

The project „Sustainable Economic Transformation & Sustainable Finance” supports emerging and developing countries worldwide in the transformation of their economic and financial systems. The Sustainable Finance component, in which the advisor will be deployed, supports partner countries in shifting financial flows into sustainable investments. At international level, the component works with international partners and networks to share good practices and promote knowledge exchange to promote interoperability of sustainable finance frameworks globally. At national level, the component supports public sector partners in building enabling policies and regulations for a sustainable financial system (e.g. taxonomies, disclosure, risk frameworks) and strengthens the adoption sustainability practices in the financial sector through advisory services and capacity building. The project is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-funded by the EU as part of the Team Europe Initiative “Sustainable Finance Advisory Hub”. The tasks of this position are partly assigned to the EU co-financing.

Ihre Aufgaben

Plan and implement project activities in partner countries of the global project. These include Brazil, India, Mexico, Peru, Rwanda, and Senegal Provide technical and strategic advice to local partner institutions, in particular to local financial institutions, to strengthen the integration of sustainability into the institutions’ strategy, governance, processes and business practices Develop knowledge products and training materials for public and private audiences to strengthen awareness and capacity on sustainable finance frameworks and effective implementation. Project management activities, including budget planning and monitoring, drafting terms of reference, stakeholder coordination, management of contractors, quality assurance, impact reporting on project activities Build a strong professional network with internal and external partners at German, European and international level. Represent GIZ as a sustainable finance expert in international conferences and workshops. Contribute to the project’s strategy, operational planning, impact monitoring, as well as the initiation of new projects and acquisition of project funds Support the project’s public relations work via internal and external channels (website, social media)

Ihr Profil

University degree (diploma/master’s degree) in economics, finance or a comparable qualification Several years of work experience in the commercial financial sector, in financial market regulation and supervision or in academia on financial market regulation and supervision Several years of work experience in the field of sustainable finance, in particular on the following topics: Financing of sustainable projects / nature-based solutions; management of sustainability risks (e.g. from climate change and biodiversity loss); sustainability reporting; transition planning; financial market regulation to promote sustainability in the financial system. Experience in advising and delivering training to central banks, financial regulators and supervisory authorities Sound knowledge of development cooperation and international good practices in the field of sustainable finance Confident, persuasive demeanour both in professional circles and towards high-ranking stakeholders Excellent command of the English language; proficiency in German and further languages at professional level (Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic) is considered an asset

This job is suited to a full or a part-time position.

This position is intended to be filled with 100 % of the collectively agreed working hours.

The willingness for frequent business trips is required.
