The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture on behalf of African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI) invites applications for the internationally recruited position of Director of Resource Mobilization and Partnership.
The African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI) is an independent, non-profit international organisation, with its Headquarters in Bukavu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). AALI provides an African perspective and voice to the diverse services required to accelerate Africa\u2019s agricultural transformation, particularly among its political leadership and for its women and youth beneficiaries. AALI\u00b4s objective is to mobilize and avail a distinctly African professional expertise to shape African political leadership, governments, development banks, and private sector investors in taking bold actions and translating special initiatives into large-scale on-the-ground impact that transform agriculture, thus creating jobs and employment for millions of African youths and wealth for tens of million rural households.
AALI is looking for a highly experienced, connected, engaging, flexible, forward-looking, and motivated individual who would explore how to mobilize funds to implement its 2023-2032 Strategy, diversify its revenue resources, and be responsive to changes in funding priorities from funders\u2019 perspectives. The successful candidate will also act as the bridge between AALI and its partners, focusing on cultivating and nurturing strong relationships, driving strategic initiatives, and managing the overall partner portfolio to leverage resources, knowledge, and networks for mutual benefits. He/she will work closely with AALI\u2019s directorates and units to achieve AALI\u2019s objectives.
The successful candidate must be a people person with excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication, advocacy, and diplomacy. In conjunction with AALI\u2019s President and Co-Presidents, the candidate must work with African governments at the highest level.
As a member of AALI\u2019s Senior Management Team (SMT), the Director of Resource Mobilization will be housed by AALI in Kinshasa but will report to the President via the CCP-PNAA. As required, the Director will provide regular updates on key resource mobilization matters, progress, and challenges.
Strategic Resource Mobilization (RM) Initiatives and Framework:
\u00b7 Develop the resource mobilization (RM) strategy as well as a roadmap for AALI\u2019s funding resource growth.
\u00b7 Mobilize funds from a diversity of donors to implement its 2023-2032 Strategy and diversify its revenue generation.
\u00b7 Create donor intelligence for privileged access/information to funding initiatives across public and private sectors.
\u00b7 Lead effective engagement, communication, and advocacy under the guidance of AALI President and Co-Presidents.
\u00b7 In close conjunction with the AALI Managing Director, develop, engage, and maintain high-value networks with a diversified array of funding agencies that provide alternative innovative funding/ RM platforms.
\u00b7 Develop a framework for setting AALI\u2019s vision and mission-driven RM goals, which are measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART).
\u00b7 Develop and manage fundraising initiatives, including developing proposals for bilateral donors and obtaining funds from African multilateral financial institutions, Africa-based and global development agencies, bilateral investors, and African governments.
\u00b7 Collaborate with country-specific bilateral projects to guarantee consistency, efficiency, and alignment with AALI\u2019s RM drive.
\u00b7 Manage a comprehensive understanding of current and potential donor base and landscape in Africa.
\u00b7 Develop a dashboard of the projects-resource pipeline and the probability of being funded.
Managing Strategic Partnerships:
\u00b7 Provide leadership in developing AALI\u2019s strategic and operational plan for partnership management to achieve optimal impact and organizational growth.
\u00b7 Identify, establish, and nurture beneficial relationships with strategic stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector actors, development organizations and CSOs.
\u00b7 Develop, negotiate, and manage strategic partnership agreements with a focus on leveraging resources, knowledge, and networks to achieve AALI\u2019s objectives.
\u00b7 Ensure that partners are adequately informed about AALI\u2019s vision, mission, and value proposition.
\u00b7 Prepare reports on all partnership management matters.
Other Duties:
\u00b7 Act as the point of contact with external organizations and stakeholders on RM matters.
\u00b7 Undertake any other duties as assigned by the AALI President as Coordinator of CCP-PNAA and by the AALI Managing Director.
Requirements
\u00b7 A minimum of a master\u2019s degree in economics, finance, banking or any other related resource mobilization field. At least 12 years of progressive experience in partnerships with financial investors and fundraising, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership position in a reputable institution.
\u00b7 Strong knowledge of resource mobilization (RM) and advocacy practices.
\u00b7 Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build effective resource mobilization networks.
\u00b7 Highly experienced, connected, and engaged in working with African governments at the highest level.
\u00b7 Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and good knowledge of English.
\u00b7 Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
\u00b7 Excellent team player who can collaborate effectively with other AALI Directorates and Units.

General information: The contract will be for an initial period of three years. AALI offers an internationally competitive remuneration package paid in US Dollars.
