Since 2012, PSI has been a leader in developing markets for sanitation and currently supports a portfolio of WASH projects in 10 countries. Our newest team member will play an integral role in helping PSI take sanitation access to scale through strengthening local market systems, contributing to institutionalizing market development skills into local institutions and organizations, building partnerships, and expanding financing for the sector. The Technical Advisor/Senior Technical Advisor will also support the diversification of PSI’s WASH work, including further expansion into the water sector.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, independent, passionate person to join our rapidly growing global WASH Team as a Technical Advisor II or Senior Technical Advisor.
Salary Range:
PSI is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:
Technical Advisor II - $86,000 (MINIMUM) - $108,000 (MID-POINT) - $130,000 (MAXIMUM)
Senior Technical Advisor I - $108,000 (MINIMUM) - $135,000 (MID-POINT) - $162,000 (MAXIMUM)
For Kenya (paid in Ksh):Technical Advisor II – Ksh 3,960,000 (MINIMUM) – Ksh 6,600,000 (MID-POINT) – Ksh 8,580,000 (MAXIMUM)
Senior Technical Advisor I – Ksh 5,400,000 (MINIMUM) – Ksh 9,000,000 (MID-POINT) – Ksh 11,700,000 (MAXIMUM)

Your contributions
The WASH Technical Advisor II will have the following responsibilities:
Technical: Contribute to the development and implementation of the department's technical activities and strategy. Provide remote and in-country technical assistance to build capacity of country-based project teams to effectively deliver results in line with PSI and global best practices and the department’s strategy. Contribute to development and implementation of workplans, in collaboration with program management teams. Contribute to development of global technical guidance. 45% of Time
Program Management: Provide inputs into development of budgets for field activities and proposals. 15% of Time
Fundraising: Contributes to new business development by writing or reviewing proposals. May serve as lead writer on a medium bid or pieces of a larger bid. Develops concept notes and proposals for new donors. 15% of Time
Representation: Represent the department or PSI WASH projects internally and externally. 10% of Time
Thought Leadership / Knowledge Management: Contribute to the development and implementation of the department's thought leadership and knowledge management agenda, including the development and internal and external dissemination of technical and programmatic briefs, webinars, reports, and manuscripts. Contribute to the global community of practice through technical review of tools and strategies shared by partners. 10% of Time
People Management: May manage people; provide coaching and mentoring to staff. 5% of Time
In addition to the duties described above, the WASH Senior Technical Advisor I will have the following responsibilities:
Lead or manage the development, refinement, or expansion of the department's strategy and technical approaches. Provide substantial contributions through technical inputs and proposal writing towards diversifying PSI’s WASH portfolio. Analyze evidence to determine best practices. Provide subject matter expertise in a specific technical area. Engage with donors and represent PSI in external forums. Convey PSI's work in written and verbal form. Participate in technical conversations and meetings convened by donors.Engage with other departments within PSI and contribute to internal decision-making as a subject matter expert.Develop new tools/frameworks or content for publications (e.g. blogs, manuscripts, etc.) that demonstrate PSI's technical expertise and experience in a specific technical area.Contribute to new business development by writing or reviewing proposals, as well as identifying new funding opportunities. May lead large and / or complex bids. Develops and maintains relationships with foundations and philanthropic donors.Program Management: Manage technical workstreams. Provide subject matter expertise while ensuring that all milestones and deliverables are met.Time percentages listed above are not exact. They are estimates and may change. Master’s Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field (e.g., MPH, MSc, MPP, MPA, MBA)At least 10 years of related experience. Equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted. Experience with market-based approaches to sanitation strongly preferred.Ability to contribute to thought leadership in relevant technical area. Ability to communicate effectively and complete oral and written assignments in both French and EnglishExceptional interpersonal and communications skills.Experience providing multi-country technical assistance to WASH programs Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising.For both levels:
Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge in relevant technical area. Ability to contribute to the internal and external body of evidence in relevant technical area.
