The Position:
The Media and Communications Branch is seeking a multimedia professional with proven video filming, studio management and editing skills to handle video production in line with UNFPA’s communication priorities.
The Video Production Analyst position is located in the Media and Communications Branch, Division for External Relations in New York and reports directly to the Multimedia Specialist. The candidate will work closely with colleagues in the Media and Communications branch to identify multimedia needs, provide guidance, production assistance and carry out the principal responsibilities listed in the scope of work below.

Job Purpose:
The Media and Communications Branch is responsible for supporting the implementation of UNFPA’s Strategic Plan by developing and implementing a communications strategy that promotes UNFPA’s work, builds trust, and drives political and public support for UNFPA’s development and humanitarian mandates. This work relies on communications, marketing and advocacy strategies that help drive visibility among multiple audiences across all channels, engage and motivate support through compelling written and multimedia content, campaigns and activities.
Under the guidance of the Multimedia Specialist, the Video Production Analyst will support the branch in communicating UNFPA’s programmes and advocacy goals by producing, editing and filming video content. The candidate will be responsible for filming and editing original content at headquarters and field programmes, managing UNFPA’s film studio in New York, and supporting regional and country offices with asset creation, production and distribution guidance.
You would be responsible for:
Pitch, produce, shoot and edit original video content for UNFPA's internal and external channels, including our global social media platforms, global website and content created for news media distribution. Ensure the video content produced is of high production quality and adheres to UNFPA's ethical guidelines. Support content gathering missions in country offices in collaboration with the multimedia team. Update and maintain video production guidelines including technical requirements for versioning for our various platforms. Support the management of video production with agencies, production companies and freelancers. Edit and distribute timely humanitarian and development footage to news organizations via UNifeed and UNFPA’s news alert, in collaboration with the media team. Shoot and edit original video content featuring the Executive Director and other senior leaders including social media packages, live interviews, events, conferences and field coverage. Design, operate, and maintain the UNFPA video studio for recording and live interviews, and provide training to staff members on studio operations. Handle photography for in-house events, conferences and the Executive Board sessions as and when required. Keep abreast of and implement the latest filming and editing techniques, equipment, and resources, including editing software, music and stock footage sites, and news wire services. Develop and share guidance on multimedia considerations and aspects of production to support colleagues at global, regional and national levels. Maintain the branding guidelines and consistent look and feel of video products. Support the Digital Asset Manager with the distribution of video and photo assets via UNFPA’s digital asset management (DAM) system as needed. Perform other duties as assigned including on-call duties.Key Outcome
Professional video production and creative compelling storytelling is essential for placement on UNFPA’s global digital platforms and is a key indicator of our relevance and successes for external audiences and donors. High quality visually and ethically sourced assets are tied to our reputation and ability to effectively communicate and advocate for women and girls. The candidate must be able to shoot, edit and produce high quality video content, and be able to work under pressure with tight timelines. Timeliness is critical especially during emergencies. A fully operational, updated and well maintained in-house broadcast studio, with production and post production equipment. A technically proficient studio both for editing and filming is central to our multimedia operations. High quality photo coverage of internal and external events and field video production including featuring senior UNFPA leadership.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in journalism, communications, media production and technologies, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree, in combination with an additional three years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.Knowledge and Experience:
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in hands-on video production, including shooting and editing, multimedia journalism, video or television production, or a related area, is required. Ability to shoot and edit professional level event photography is highly desirable. Experience in optimizing platform-specific multimedia content (particularly video) for websites, social media, UNifeed, and international news organizations is required. Experience in human rights development and humanitarian work at the international level, preferably within the United Nations system, is a distinct advantage. Familiarity with issues and topics related to UNFPA’s three transformative results and the ICPD agenda is desirable. Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to excel in a wide variety of tasks simultaneously, especially during humanitarian emergencies, are desirable. Experience in producing multimedia content in Adobe CC (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Audition, AfterEffects, etc), is required. Experience equipping and managing a video studio is required, including a solid understanding of technical equipment and requirements Experience managing studio recordings, live interviews, and event coverage is desirable. Experience in liaising and producing content with senior leaders of international or reputable organizations is an advantage. Experience in managing digital asset management systems (DAM) is an advantage. Understanding of visual journalism integrity and trauma-informed reporting is an asset. Understanding of copyright, consent, and journalism ethics is required. Proven track record of working efficiently and calmly under high stress situations with executive leadership is required.Languages:
