USAID Supporting Victims of Violence Internship Programme The USAID Supporting Victims of Violence (SVOV) Activity The USAID-funded SVOV Activity, awarded to Winrock International in July 2023, is a 4-year initiative aimed at addressing violence in Jamaica through community-led, survivor-informed strategies. By targeting youth, families, and communities, SVOV seeks to enhance access to trauma-informed services for survivors, witnesses, and perpetrators of violence while fostering behavior change and resilience. The Activity focuses on strengthening the capacity of the Government of Jamaica, NGOs, and CSOs to support those affected by violence, with a particular emphasis on vulnerable groups such as women, children, and persons with disabilities. Central to its approach are sustainable, locally driven solutions designed to break generational cycles of violence and promote lasting community well-being. The SVOV Internship Programme The SVOV Internship Programme offers students from diverse academic disciplines the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of international and community development. The programme provides the opportunity for students to gain practical insights and valuable experience that contribute to their academic, professional, and personal development. The duration of the internship is normally between 3 – 6 months and will begin on a rolling basis. Internships usually require a commitment of at least 2 days (16 hours) per week. A small monthly stipend will be given to interns.
