Result of ServiceStrengthened partnerships and technically-sound delivery of UNEP's activities in Brazil related to advancing urban and peri-urban agriculture, food waste, and sustainable food systems activities and facilitation of lessons learned to support relevant global agendas. More specifically: Strategic Engagement and Partnership Building: Strengthen and manage relationships with the Brazilian government, municipalities, and key stakeholders to advance on priorities related to Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture (UPA), food waste and food systems. Facilitate dialogue and coordination between UNEP, local authorities, and partners to ensure alignment of urban nature initiatives with national strategies. Project implementation: Lead the implementation of project components related to UPA, food waste and food systems in Brazil in collaboration with UNEP teams, national and subnational authorities and other stakeholders Link the outcomes of the activities to global agendas and communities of practice, such as Community of Practice under the One Planet Sustainable Food Systems Programme. Technical Support and Knowledge Contribution: Provide technical assistance and input to ongoing UNEP initiatives on UPA, food waste and food systems, including contributing to urban nature-related activities, knowledge products, and advocacy. Support capacity-building and knowledge-sharing efforts to advance innovative urban sustainability solutions. UNEP is seeking the services of a consultant to support UNEP's work in Brazil and its connection to global agendas, with specific focus on supporting national and sub-national governments and related projects on urban and peri-urban agriculture, food waste, and sustainable food systems. Qualifications/special skillsAn advanced university degree in Environmental Science, Social Science, Agricultural science or Public Administration, Economics or Environmental Economics, or a related field is required. A first university degree with a combination of two (2) years professional and academic qualifications may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree A minimum of five (5) of professional working experience in program and project implementation in the field of UPA and food systems with specific focus on Brazil. Strong network and experience in stakeholder engagement, strategy development and intervention planning at federal, state and/or municipal level in Brazil is desirable. An understanding of the biophysical and economic modelling of ecosystem services in the context of food systems is required. An understanding of the Brazilian environmental, bioeconomy, agricultural and NbS overall political context is highly desirable.
