Organ: The Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB) fulfills the objectives of the Union relating to telecommunication standardization, by providing secretariat support to groups studying technical, operating and tariff questions and facilitating the adoption of Recommendations in these areas with a view to standardizing telecommunications and information technology on a global basis. In order to achieve these objectives, the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau works in accordance with the instructions of the World Telecommunication Standardization Assemblies (WTSA), Telecommunication Standardization Study Groups and the Telecommunication Standardization Advisory Group. TSB, headed by an elected Director, provides the technical, administrative and logistic support for the assemblies and for the meetings of the groups mentioned.

Organization Unit: The Operations and Planning Department (OPD), is responsible for coordinating and planning support for the activities of the Telecommunication Standardization Sector. It does this through managing the Bureau's activities for organization and planning of assemblies and logistical support to meetings. The Department oversees document processing and provides IT services and solutions for electronic working methods and the development of ITU-T databases. The Department also provides administrative and secretarial support for intellectual property matters and manages the technical editing and final production of ITU-T recommendations and publications as well as ISO/IEC common texts. The Department collaborates closely with the Departments of the General Secretariat and the Bureaux which are responsible for providing support services.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities of the Internship

Under the supervision of the Head of Outreach, Events and Publications Division.

  • Contribute to the coordination of the call for speakers for various events by collecting, organizing and screening the submissions received.
  • Assist in the selection of speakers by conducting background research and organizing it into speaker profiles.
  • Collect and organize speakers' biographies, pictures and presentations, and verifying the suitability of the documents received. Liaise with speakers by responding to written and phone enquiries to facilitate their participation in the event.
  • Assist in SAP CRM registration and SAP CRM Room and Session data input. Work closely with other ITU teams for the coordination and exchange of information concerning the various aspects of the events. Contribute also to the maintenance of various web pages by regularly verifying that the correct information is published concerning the workshops.
  • Assist in the creation of the various event outcome reports.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Competencies

  • Event organization; Detail-oriented, Customer oriented.
  • Excellent writing, MS word, excel & power point skills, adoptable in using SAP CRM system.

Qualifications required

Education: Currently pursuing a Master's degree program or within one year of graduation with Master's in Hospitality; Events Management; Marketing and Communications or similar.

Experience: No work experience required.

Languages: English fluent; French is desirable.

Additional Information: This is a full-time Unpaid Internship. The internship will be completed remotely Non-remunerated internship positions at ITU do not carry the same conditions of employment as Short term or Fixed term positions. Mandatory Medical Insurance, travel expenses, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or sponsoring institutions.
