Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Senior Legal Officers or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Rule of Law Officer will:
Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:
Required degree level: Master degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
Relevant area, e.g. International Criminal Law or area related to International Humanitarian Law; a first-level university degree or equivalent in combination with relevant training and/or professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree
Required experience: 24 Months
Experience remark:
Work experience at the national and/or international level in legal research, rule of law development, , criminal litigation, or evidence management, or other relevant programmes; experience with international or domestic criminal investigations is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization
Language skills:
Area of expertise: Rule of law, judicial and national legal system reform, International law, Other rule of law or governance related experience
Area of expertise details:
Have affinity with or interest in rule of law development, international humanitarian law, international investigations, post-conflict situations, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN Systems
Driving license: No
