Translation of all text/dialogue into Spanish. Full rights to all videos are granted to the United Nations. • Filming and producing of a maximum of 10 videos in Spanish with a duration between 30 seconds and five minutes as commissioned by the Unit Chief of UN News in collaboration with UN Video. May require filming of interviews and B-roll, shot according to UN Video’s instructions with correct lighting and microphones. Full rights to all videos and footage is granted to the United Nations. Work LocationUN Headquarters in New York Expected durationMaximum of 6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Individual Contractor shall: 1) Liaise with relevant Unit chief, the Chief of the Spanish Unit of UN News, to plan and agree on timelines and content of videos to be versioned and produced in Spanish, incorporating a range of storytelling approaches appropriate for both news and social media platforms. 2) Attend online meetings with UN Video for specifics on their video production schedule, and to identify best video production/editing practices for social media and other digital platforms. 3) Version United Nation videos in Spanish, captioning and adding graphics, as required, following UN Video’s and Unit Chief’s instructions. Full rights to all versions of video is granted to the United Nations. 4) Translation of English video text and dialogue into Spanish. 5) Produce original videos in Spanish, as requested by commissioning office, filming interviews and B-roll, shot according to UN Video’s instructions with correct lighting and microphones. Production requires editing, captioning and adding graphics, as instructed by UN Video and Unit Chief. Full rights to all footage and videos is granted to the United Nations. 6) Deliver videos upon completion to UN News in Spanish and UN Video using an online transfer method, such as WeTransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive. a. Requirements of Filmed/Produced videos: Broadcast quality 4K, landscape 16:9 aspect ratio videos, or as instructed by UN Video and Unit Chief. b. Requirements of Versioned videos: As instructed by UN Video and Unit Chief. 7) Follow UN News/UN Video guidelines, ensuring basic editorial clarity and sound political judgment, due diligence regarding permissions and copyright, including written approvals for photos and video content, especially where minors are concerned. 8) Possesses a minimum of five (5) years of experience in video production, filming, and editing is required. Possess well-rounded experience in multimedia-production and broadcast/digital journalism, in the assigned language (Spanish). 9) References are required and work samples may be requested. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, video, film and television or related areas. A first-level university degree in combination with two years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in communication, journalism, video, film and television or related area is required. Experience in video production in the assigned language is required. Experience with the current technical developments and production editing techniques is required. Experience filming and producing in international settings is desirable. Experience in a daily multilingual, international news environment is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in Spanish and English is required. Knowledge of another UN official languages is desirable. Additional InformationThis function is located in the UN News Section of the News and Content Branch, within the News and Media Division (NMD) in the Department of Global Communications (DGC). The UN News Spanish Video Producer will work on versioning United Nations videos and producing original video content in Spanish, as commissioned by the Spanish Language Unit Chief of UN News (Noticias Onu). The Video Producer’s duties include versioning, captioning, filming interviews and B-roll when necessary, editing high-quality, fast-paced short videos for use in UN websites and social media accounts, and collaborating with Video Section colleagues to identify best video production/editing practices and schedule of video production for social media and other digital platforms.
