About IDB Invest Sustainability Week:

Started in 1999 as training for a small group of clients as a contractual obligation as per our sustainability policy compliance mandate. The first edition received 16 client participants from 13 countries. Over the years, IDB Invest’s Sustainability Week has grown exponentially, becoming the most consequential event on sustainability for the private sector in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The last edition of the event held in 2022 in Miami, SW22 had 200 speakers, more than 120 sessions, 600 in-person participants, over 8,000 virtual participants, 15,000 video views, and over 3.8 million impacts on social networks.

Sustainability Week 2024 seeks to inspire changemakers to accelerate actions and investments that will improve lives and ensure a sustainable future for Latin American and Caribbean inhabitants, with a particular focus on the Amazon region.

As part of its mandate, the Social Environment and Governance Division (SEG) of IDB Invest is responsible for leading the Sustainability Week initiative, support business development through strengthening of IDB Invest positioning as sustainability leader, and develop demand driven and client-centric capacity building and knowledge products to mitigate risks amongst others.

About this position:

IDB Invest is a market leader in sustainable investing and in integrating environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) risk management and sustainability solutions throughout the investment process. We have strengthened our sustainable value proposition through the rollout of our new Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy and proactively scaled up engagement with clients, investors and development practitioners to mainstream the adoption of state-of-the-art ESG practices.

We act as a trustworthy advisor and offer clients guidance and strategies, advocating for the promotion of sustainable business models and helping them manage risks, uncover opportunities, and identify value-added solutions throughout the investment and operational cycle, assessing and monitoring measures that are beneficial to the business while bringing institutional, societal, and environmental benefits to Latin America and the Caribbean.

Support communications and event management initiatives linked to IDB Invest Sustainability Week 2024 and help in the event planning process, with a special focus on the Brazilian audience.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the team in event management tasks, including during business relationships with external knowledge partners, sponsors, and vendors, with a focus on the Brazilian audience.
  • Lead and collaborate in the development of communication materials and tools for IDB Invest Sustainability Week in Portuguese.
  • Copy edit and proofread all communication to event stakeholders in Portuguese. Ensure message alignment with the event’s narrative and objectives.
  • Support the configuration and update of the event’s website and platform. Help produce digital assets, website pages, and support Sustainability Week’s social media activation efforts, including Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, blogs, and others.
  • Proofread and ensures accuracy of translation of communication materials from English to Portuguese.
  • Develop reports, presentations, and briefings.

      What you will need:

      • Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, and/or related fields.
      • Experience: The consultant should have at least 3 years of experience.
      • Languages: Portuguese and English.
      • Areas of Expertise: Communications, Marketing, Outreach, Copy-editing, Event Management, Partnerships, Public Relations.
      • Skills: The consultant should have experience working in executive communications and high-level events, experience in the private sector and finance/development sector is a plus.
      • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
      • Highly technology-savvy

        Requirements:

        • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
