A job description is a written statement that describes the employee’s role and responsibilities. The role and responsibilities shall be executed within the NRC framework. The purpose of the assistant position is to assist in the day-to-day implementation of the shelter project. 

Generic responsibilities

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  4. Ensure proper filing of documents 
  5. Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function

    Specific responsibilities 

    1. Support the shelter officer in formulation of project work plans and provide quality and timely reports to the officer on projects progress.
    2. Supervise and monitor construction of shelters,roads and building facilities  at school,police and distribution centres.
    3. Request  construction materials from the warehouse in a timely manner, supervise and monitor distribution of construction materials to the beneficiaries.
    4. Monitor and ensure proper usage of the construction materials, assets and tools.
    5. Facilitate effective implementation of all construction activities which includes supervision and monitoring of building facilities and roads for service delivery, emergency and transitional shelters for camp consolidation.
    6. Preparation of bill of quantities as requested from time to time.
    7. Recruit, train and manage incentive workers (community mobilizers, quality monitors, construction workers).
    8. Supervise and develop the capacity of refugee community workers implementing shelter construction activities. 
    9. Take account of gender, protection, HIV, the environment, and other important cross-cutting concerns in Programme design, implementation, and reporting; carry out activities in a way that reflects the needs of specific groups and individuals e.g. elderly people, minority groups, children, and people with disabilities.
