Under the overall supervision of the Senior Protection Coordinator and the Protection Officer, and the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Assistant in Tunis, the successful candidate will provide support to the shelter manager in the daily management and coordination of assigned shelter and of follow-up with beneficiaries.
In particular, he/she will:
- Assist in all matters pertinent to IOM’s intervention on site
- Assist in Monitoring/ensuring that all project activities are in place according to set schedule and specific guidelines.
- Support the Shelter Manager in cases of safety and security incidents and emergency evacuations.
- Support in the reception and identification of beneficiaries and shelter administration in the daily management and coordination of the shelter.
- Support in managing information, including data collection on activities and service provision, and information dissemination to beneficiaries, on-site actors and stakeholders.
- Encourage and monitor engagement, mobilization, and participation of shelter beneficiaries with particular emphasis on the inclusion of persons with specific needs, including migrants with health needs and migrants with disabilities into decision-making processes
- Assist in implementing activities tailored to the needs and interests of women and children residing in the shelter, promoting engagement, empowerment, and community building.
- Assist in managing the children's room within the shelter, and in ensuring a safe and stimulating and conducive environment.
- Assist in facilitating age-appropriate activities and programs for children, including educational, recreational, and creative activities.
- Collaborate with shelter staff and external partners to organize special events and outings for women and children, fostering social connections and providing opportunities for enrichment.
- Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.
- Assist in conducting regular assessments, undertake monitoring activities, and provide progress reports for all implemented activities, ensuring compliance and alignment with the Mission’s policies, procedures, and IOM’s Standards of Conduct in all implemented activities.
Education:
- High School Diploma with three years of relevant work experience; or
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution with one year work experience.
Experience:
Previous experience working in a similar position; Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and keep deadlines; Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment
Skills:
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, personal commitment, efficiency and flexibility; Ability to work with minimal supervision; Proficient use of commonly used IT equipment and the appropriate software solutions. Willingness to travel and work under difficult conditions
Languages:
For all applicants, fluency in English, French and Arabic is required (oral and written).
