Your team

You will be part of the Non-Financial Risk Division in the Directorate Supervisory Strategy and Risk. The Directorate has approximately 65 members of staff and is responsible for identifying the main risks for the banking sector, proposing Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) priorities, strategic planning and risk tolerance levels for the identified supervisory risk dimensions, performing reviews to assess the quality, consistency and compliance of supervisory outcomes, and coordinating operational risk tasks and mitigation measures for the SSM business areas.

We are currently preparing an in-depth analysis, in collaboration with the SSM Operational Risk Management Senior Expert Group (SOSEG), on operational risk management practices in the ECB and national competent authorities. In addition, we are in the process of rolling out the Eurosystem/European System of Central Banks (ESCB) Business Continuity Management framework in the SSM. We also provide the secretariat function to the SOSEG.

In your role as a Senior Supervisor, you will be part of the Operational Risk Management team of four members of staff responsible for coordinating the above-mentioned tasks. You will work closely with the Team Lead responsible for operational risk and act on his/her behalf if necessary.

The SSM is the system of banking supervision in Europe. It comprises the ECB and the national supervisory authorities of the participating countries.

The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply, irrespective of your gender, gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability or other characteristics.

Your role

As a Senior Supervisor you will:

  • engage and collaborate with SOSEG members and with the ECB's Operational Risk and Business Continuity Management Section
  • support the development of comprehensive assessment criteria for each assessed risk;
  • help analyse the self-assessments and evidence provided by ECB business areas and national competent authorities;
  • coordinate SOSEG actions regarding the roll-out of the Business Continuity Management framework to the SSM.

The position offers you excellent opportunities to gain a deep insight into SSM processes, focusing on operational risk and business continuity management as well as gaining a broader overview of the activities carried out by the Directorate. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.

  • sound understanding of operational risk and business continuity management in a central bank or in a supervisory authority context;
  • professional experience in coordinating tasks under tight deadlines and time pressure;
  • an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Desired:

  • Work experience related to Eurosystem/ESCB/SSM operational risk management or to the SOSEG.

You engage collaboratively with others. You pursue team goals and learn willingly from other people's diverse perspectives. You signal any need for change by explaining it and proposing alternative solutions. You analyse complex information effectively and can evaluate different views to arrive at solutions. You know and anticipate stakeholder needs. You are skilled at encouraging people to develop their abilities and are able to build up high-performing teams.
