Terms of Reference1. General Background
The Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) sits within UNHCR's Division of External Relations (DER) and is responsible for mobilizing resources for refugees from the private sector. UNHCR has developed a Private Sector Fundraising Strategy 2018-2025 which has the ambition of growing PSP into a service capable of generating $1 Billion annually and identifies priority fundraising markets and regions.
PSP MENA is headquartered in Dubai UAE and as such is the largest office representing the entirety of support function for this unit, housing regional functions such as Communications & Engagement, Islamic Philanthropy and Operations.
2. Purpose and Scope of Assignment
Under the overall supervision of the Senior PPH Associate, the main tasks of the Senior Social Media Assistant will be the following:
• Support in managing PSP MENA’s VoicesWithRefugees social media platforms under the supervision of the social media comms focal point.
• Coordinate and support the development of the Refugee Zakat Fund’s social media platforms and social media packs.
• Contribute to the development and pitch social media plans and calendar.
• Assist in the research and creation of digital content and engagement opportunities.
• Community management and reply to comments and questions on our social media accounts as per the approved community management guidelines.
• Work closely with Social Comms focal point to create engaging content for PSP MENA’s social media presence, including keeping social media channels updated and brand-focused, and seeking out new social media avenues and ways of connecting with audiences.
• Engage in social media presence creation on new and emerging social media platforms.
• Assist in the production of dynamic written, graphic, and video content for the VoicesWithRefugees platform.
• Optimize content following search engine optimization (SEO) and pay-per-click (PPC) in coordination with the digital acquisition lead.
• Assist in creating and suggesting content that promotes audience interaction, engagement and reach.
• Work as part of a team to develop and execute large social media campaigns.
• Analyse and report audience information and demographics, and success of existing social media projects with detailed social metrics
• Support the campaign and engagement team members in coordinating social media strategy for campaigns, events, partnerships and activations.
• Support GWA/HPS/Digital influencers outreach team with research and reporting on potential and current digital influencer/GWA/HPS collaborations and activations.
• Support in developing social media content plans for any upcoming PSP-related missions and field visits to align with the overall engagement strategy.
4. Qualifications and Experience
a. Education
• Secondary education with preferably a degree in Communications, Digital studies, or Multimedia Design.
b. Work Experience
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 1-year relevant work experience with Bachelor's or equivalent or higher.
• Knowledge of the UN system preferably with UNHCR or another UN Agency is a plus.
c. Key Competencies

• Awareness of humanitarian affairs, and good writing skills.

• Basic content writing, creation and graphic design/video editing abilities

• Proficiency in using analytics tools to measure the impact of social media campaigns.
• Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer), content management systems, basic graphic design software (e.g., Canva), and mobile video editing tools (e.g.,InShot).
• Knowledge of Islamic Philanthropy is an added value.
• Team player.
d. Language
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic language is essential and the candidate should have excellent command of the English language.
